I posted a little while ago about my situation changing and seriously considering selling Arlo. Well I just couldn’t do it, wrote the advert (with help from some very kind people on here so thank you!) but I just couldn’t push the submit button!
I’ve had a very honest conversation with my yard owner and she’s extremely kindly reduced my livery fee in return for a few more yard jobs which I’m more than happy to do which helps a lot! She’s also offered to share lifts with me and Arlo so I will still be able to get out and about sometimes which is lovely 😊 So I’ve decided to keep him at least for now, knuckle down and try and keep progressing with him as much as I can. Plus I just love the bones of him. He’s come out of his shell so much since being at this yard, always following around, asking for scratches just generally being super easy and lovely in every way!
I also posted a while back in competition and training thread about the struggle with my current saddle, basically I’m too tall for it and the twist is too wide for my dodgy hips so it’s just generally uncomfortable. My saddler has been looking out for months for something that would fit me and him as he’s so blimmin wide but think we’ve finally cracked it and part exchanging it against my old one meant it was just about affordable! Had my first proper lesson in it tonight and Arlo felt so relaxed in it and I felt like I could actually ride!
Some videos from our lesson, I know we hit poles and get some striding wrong but our focus is just keeping a nice calm rhythm no matter what stride we hit and he just felt amazing so much more confident and adjustable.
And sporting his new (second hand 😆) smart saddle
