Here's a link to his ad if you didn't see my post yesterday.
He had a lot more 'presence' than I thought he would TBH- he has a big trot (which i felt silly trying to sit to after being used to the springy little TB i normally ride
) and a nice walk; his canter needs some work though, it's not as balanced as his trot. He wa fairly forward going and was quick to respond to what I asked. He had a correct jump, and was enthusiastic, but i didn't think 'WOW' immediately..I think it's just because, again, I've got used to horses who 'pull' you into the fence- he doesn't really seek out the contact and grab hold if that makes sense? And i'm not sure, but I got the impression he might struggle with significantly higher than what he was jumped today
Then I cantered him around a field, where he was lovely- definitely enthusiastic but stoppable and polite
Then last of all I hacked him the 10 mins back to the yard (the school is in a different place to the yard
) and he really was superb. We met motorbikes, cars, bikes, another horse who was misbehaving and a lorry- he didn't bat an eyelid
Oh and he has the most adorable pink and white nose I've ever seen
Apparantly he loves XC and can be 'sparky' out hacking when his blood's up- no problemm, sounds like fun
Reasons I'm unsure: his jump wasn't really 'wow', and he was quite lazy in the school. He also has a splint, but as far as I'm aware that's not a big deal?
Ooh I don't know.
Couple of rubbish pics I took (sorry massive):
(oh and sorry for him, er, displaying himself in this one)
And finally one of him when he raced
(bought for £250k as a yearling- Northern Dancer lines- then wasn't very good at it
)
