...advertised your saddle on ebay (twice, 22 watchers the first time, 25 the second time, no bids), and on BD (twice, no interest) and had just put it on Preloved (awaiting results, nothing yet) and you really could do with the money for it, what would you do next?

And please don't say drop the price!

How have you advertised it on Ebay? Have you put a low starting price and used a reserve or have you put on a high start price?

If the latter then I find you tend to get a lot more interest using a low start price and sticking a reserve on. I know it costs a bit more but people seem to need to work up to the higher amount!

Otherwise I've no idea, sorry :o:)

I would give pre-loved a bit longer, after advertising my WOW on horsequest I was really suprised how many enquiries I got through preloved and I ended up selling it on there for a good price :)

High start price on ebay, though could try dropping it and doing a reserve. Time to change something! It's on again at the mo so will let this ad run and then do it differently. I've sold several saddles on ebay before and never had a problem.

Someone has suggested that it's because it is a brown dressage saddle and people don't like them. I guess it's an issue, but I bought it specifically because it was brown so surely someone else should?

I will give Preloved a bit longer. Not sure which saddlers would be interested, plus I'd inevitably lose out!

Not sure what you'd think of this but you could offer on ebay a refund if it doesnt fit as thats what holds people back from buying saddles online. Chances are it will encourage bids but people in the end might not bother sending it back to you even if it doesnt fit as postage will be pricey. I hope this makes sense.

If you're desperate to get rid of it, just drop the price. I let my Innova go for just over £400, when it was worth much more, I just needed whatever cash I could get my hands on, and it was costing a fortune to keep listing it with reserves and buy it now prices.

What about selling it to one of the online saddle places? Saddles direct or similar? I'm guessing they take a cut but if your desparate to get rid could be worth it?!

I feel your pain! I recently put a saddle on Ebay. 33 watchers, about a million messages (half of which asked if it was brown? When the picture and description both stated so!) .. And yet no bids!!?!
I would give Preloved a bit more time, I put it on there alongside Ebay and it sold after a couple of weeks. Had a few time wasting calls / messages but in the end someone local came and collected it for not much less than I paid for it a few years ago! :)

I had to give my saddle away on ebay recently.
Brand new saddle cost £750 but it wasn't a well known brand and eventually after listing it about 5 times I got £250 for it :(.

Still I also bought two nearly new beautiful Kieffers. One a dr saddle that retails at 2.5k for £400 and £450 a piece.

You win some, you lose some.

I find if nobody bids it's because the starting price is too high.
Try like someone else suggested and drop the starting price and put a reserve on.

Could you pm me a link or details please?

Echo this- things sell much better on eBay with a low starting price and a reserve rather than starting high.

I sold mine to Rideaway but got a very low price but it was 10 years old. He said brown dressage saddles are hard to sell and I see it it still on their site over 6 months later. Do you have any local yards that you could put an ad in. I sold one before with an ad on the board at a large riding school/ livery yard. I think it helps if people can try it.

The market is flooded with second-hand saddles at the moment so there is a lot of competition out there and people only want to pay peanuts for decent stuff too. I think our culture is changing thanks to tighter purse strings and the recession. If you don't want to reduce the price and you want to use ebay, your only choice is to keep re-listing it. I had exactly the same happen to me recently.... over 20 watchers but no bids, three or four times! Ebay has changed a lot since it first started!!!

(I did sell mine in the end but only because I reduced the price because I really needed the money :()

Try the tack shop at Vale View.

They will ask you how much you want and then add to their collection when doing fittings etc. They add their cut on top so you need to be realistic.

I had mine there to sell but then managed to sell it through ebay so just picked it up and shipped it.

Worth a try if you are down there at some stage or if you want to pass it to me via M_M with the details I can pop it in for you?
