I agree too ..... BUT..... I have to laugh when within minuets everybody and everything is plastered in mud!! - Why do we get so stressed about having to look SO smart??
I don't see a point of hoof oiling feet!!
I personally prefer my horse NOT to have a plaited mane, - I need more to hold on to!!!! But I do like to see a tail plaited up.

But no one will hate them for wearing the wrong boots if they are skint, so long as they put some polish on them, and they take a hip flask :p

I am still curious as to how many people bandaged a horse with their stock last year!!!! :)

I think the general thing is all should be welcomed so long as they have made an effort to look smart :)

I know four horses that wore stocks last year and I expect there were a lot more if truth be known; this is just with our lot! All casualties of war, a couple of arteries, a gash and a kick! So, unless you want to carry a bandage in your pocket, a properly tied stock is a big bonus.

Funnily, on the flip side of the coin....

My husband has a patey - we're not loaded but he's one of the masters and has hunted for years - but I'm desperately trying to persuade him to wear a sensible hat that would actually protect him if he had a bad fall.

Can I persuade him, can I hell?

ps I'd love him to wear a back protector too but I know that would be impossible.

Yeah a post I actually understand, I have been reading all the others! I always do my best to look smart but I’ve only just started Hunting, so will just have to collect the correct gear as I go!

I love my stock and if I could I would wear one every time I ride. Sadly I can't tie one myself no matter how many times someone shows me so my boss has to tie it for me.
I had a nasty accident a couple of years ago and damaged my neck. I have had 2 proper falls out hunting the last being last week and without my stock I dread to think what state my neck would be in now.

I was told I would look a lot smarter in a Patey. Apart from not being able to afford one I have seen too many coming off when the person falls or getting knocked off by a tree. One rider had his Patey fly off when his horse was broncing the other day.

You have obviously not ventured forth on that many occasions during a season.
We had a few accidents last season - and at the start of this one - where stocks had to be untied from necks - to stall blood - human and equine.

Why are you curious - a VERY odd question in my opinion.

obviously some folk dont know the original reason for the stock which was for the use of bandaging human/equine casualties!! us oldies aren't so thick eh??

No, we Oldies are not that thick my Welsh Friend.
Why are there just SO many halfwits out there - who don't have a 6th letter of the Alphabet Clue?? !!

Well I can pretty much guarantee that I haven't... seen as I've never had a go at anyone. :smirk:

Well apart from one day when my horse got kicked and I got in a bit of a stress... but I did apologise.

Really promise you I am not a snob!!!
