Greetings all.
This is going to sound a little like an AA introduction but I'm a relatively new member and haven't had much contact with any of you yet (although, amazingly enough, Tia and I have some real world connections in common!!) so my request requires a little background information.
I am, as you can see to the left there, a Canadian. I'm also an equine behaviourist/trainer specialising in starting young stock and working with problem horses and their people. I was in my younger days an eventer, although the bulk of my competing now is on horses for sale and in the service of addressing competition "issues" so I do a little of everything. I have been very lucky in my career - I have lovely horses to ride (even if some of them start out a bit complicated), fantastic clients, and a great business here . . .
. . .and I'm moving to London. As in urban London. As in Balham. Not exactly a hotbed of equestrianism.
And, to those of you who are still reading, I would like to know what I'm getting myself into. To be perfectly honest I'm not even sure if I will be continuing to work as a professional but I will obviously continue to be involved in horses. I love solving problems, I love helping people make their relationships with their horses better, and I love sharing the knowledge I've gained from a very privileged life with horses and all of the gifted horsemen I've been lucky to learrn from, but how exactly I go about this is still under review. In the mean time I'd like very much to learn about "the scene" - where I should go, whom I should meet, and what opportunities might await me.
I have great faith in the internet, bulletin boards and the people I've met on them so I'm sending out a general plea for information, either here or by PM, to introduce me to my new world.
I am extremely excited about joining the thriving English horsey community - I can't wait to meet new horses and their people.
