Today i recieved a loan termination letter form the owner of the mare i have on loan. I knew this time would come someday, and i was trying to prepare myself but today i realised that no matter how much i prepare for it, i'll still be upset and cry. I did not expect to feel like this thou, i love this horse so much, we've been through so much together, from her crazy days to my mood swings, she's helped me overcome my fear of big jumps and hedges and i've tried to help her overcome her fear of wet patches on the tarmac and my dog. I now have 28days left with my lovely girl then i will have to pack her stuff and say my goodbye. :(
I will miss her :(

I love you my girl :)

Oh that's really sad, what a beautiful girl, i hope you wnjoy the time you have left with her. I remember when my loan horse
was sold and my parents didn't
have the funds at the time to buy
him, I was heartbroken. Will you still get to see her? X

That's such a shame :( I hope you enjoy your last month together x

and, of course, awww :o, lol and fab at the photos :p (in that order :D)

what a shame, do you know why thery are ending the loan?

no, no explanation given, owner wrote in the letter how much she appriciates everything we did for the mare and that she is extremely happy with the care given and updates on facebook with pictures, she just said that she's temrinating the loan, thats it

no i won't get to see her anymore, i think owner might sell her as she is selling the rest of her horses, unfortunately my parents arent in the possition to buy her either :(

Is there no way you could make the funds to buy her?? Thats what I did with Rose I sold my car (I was 18) and scraped the money together by a weekend job, if you did this could you not ask the owner to buy in installments? Sort of like a lease but when you've paid it all off she's yours? Just an idea :) I was devastated when they said I had to give Rose back, so I really understand where you coming from :( PM me if you want

im so sorry!!! (((hugs))) i also know what its like to have to leave behind a special one in a million horse, i still cry about him today (he was simular to yours in the way that he helped me get over my fear of jumping big fences, its come back again because he has gone) because i know i shall never see him again even though it was a year ago. i really do feel for you (((hugs)))

Hugs to you :)

Make sure you jot down her passport number, so if you ever want to find her you can contact the passport company :)

You've done amazing with her, and I can't imagine how your feeling right now :(

She is gorgeous! :)

:-( that's so sad big hugs!!

if she's selling her horses, is there not anyway you could come to some arrangement to buy her from her??

So sorry to hear this news what a shame :(
Surely she would've offered you her 1st if she was going to sell?... I always see sometimes that when a loanee does good things with the horse and owner see's it all, that one day they want the horse back especially after the winter... as this is what happened to my sis in law once.

I understand your pain.... i've just given my loan horse up :( :(

Enjoy your time with her now though whilst you can....

Oh no how awful :( , I take it shes the one you were planning all your competitions on? I hope she finds a nice home anyway if the owner sells. Will you be looking for another loan? If so will keep my ears peeled :)

Thank you everyone for your kind words. To all those who have suggested installments and trying to scrape up money, i have tried, it really isn't doable. My parents are having troubles witmoney atm despite this they still pay for livery for her, atm i'm in my second year of GCSEs and i want to be a vet so have to study loads but to keep her i also have two jobs, everyday i don't get back home till gone 9 or sometimes later, i come home after school get changed, go to yard and do chorse then straight from yard go to work. then of course i still have revision and homework to keep up with, i'm already falling asleep every day at school, so physically i cannot work anymore than i already am, unless someone very kind will make the day 30hours not 24h, then i'll have time :)
it really is heart breaking and i wish i didn't have to let her go :(
and yes she's that one that i was planning to start BE with this year and team chasing and move up the ladder in sj, had nearly every weekend planned up until end of june, now i''m not even going to get to compete her in all her new posh red sj stuff i got for her at olympia :(

yes, i will be looking for another loan, i know it is harsh but i know myself and i also know that the best way for me to stop being upset and be happy with what i've had with her is to occupy myself with something else cuz atm all i can do is cry, but for the criteria for a loan horse i might start another thread. thanks again everyone :)

So sorry to hear this I can imagine how sad you must be feeling I have just got a loan horse this weekend who I adore already and will have option to buy in a year unless the owners want to sell before. I am desperately hoping they won't want to sell before the year because I just won't be able to afford him :-(

Hold on to your memories and keep looking at those brilliant pictures to remember your special girl and the great times you had xxx

Sorry to hear of your news. She looks a lovely mare. It has happened to me, so I know how you feel. Where abouts are you? What sort of horse would you look for?

Can you not write a note in her passport with your details on, and whoever may own her in the future has an option to contact you and keep in touch perhaps?

Many hugs, all the best for your future.

I will make a list of what i'm looking for in a loan horse:
MUST be 16hh+ -I'm 5ft11 and i don't feel safe on smaller than that
MUST be good to lead to and from field

doesn't matter what colour, age or sex (greys will not put me off, in fact they're my fave colour)

can be extremely naughty ridden, i can handle bucks better than rears, saying that this mare rears and spins so can handle those too, and i'm absolutely fine with massive spooks etc, doesn't bother me at all!

doesn't have to be well schooled or experienced,

has to have a bold brave jump but does not have to be experienced at jumping.

all it needs to do well is lead and have scope jumping, that's it, i'm willing to put in all the work to get the horse to the level i want to do things at, i'm willing to take it xc schooling and to lessons etc, just need to have the potential really and the leading thing is an absolute must because my friend turns the horse out for me and brings it in on 2 night a week, and its not fair to ask her to handle a difficult horse.

(((hugs))) I feel for you! Make the most of every second you have left with her and take lots of pics and vids :) that's the one thing I feel you always regret.. Pictures keep the memories alive :p and remember smile :) it may be hard but you'll get through it

I have nothing practical to say that would be of any use... But reading your posts you sound so very committed and responsible... Your parents must be very proud of you Shiny... :)

Good luck in finding a new loan and take the advice of jotting down the passport number and issuing organisation... Just in case circumstances change in the future...

Good luck in finding a new loan, what a shame it's had to come to an end. I've been in the position before when I've literally had the horse took from under me without much notice given and it's heartbreaking so I can understand what you're going through. She looks like she did very well by you from your pictures. x

Really hard I know how you feel. My first pony (I was 21 ) was on loan and they decided they wanted him back. I would have kept him forever if I could but they wouldnt sell or give him to me (he was 27) they just took him away. Saw him once more at a show with a young child jumping him which he had a stifle injury so wasnt supposed to jump and I couldnt do anything about it. Swore I would never loan again but son needs a bigger one this year and cant afford to buy so will have to consider it. Good luck with the new one
