So lovely to have the lighter evenings here at last, and even some sun!

Didn't ride today as we had a family lunch at our local, but once we got home I actually spent a couple of hours giving my three a proper groom/dehairing session in the Spring sunshine. I have to admit that most of the winter it's a quick rug off/once over with the brush/rug back on every couple of days, but it was so lovely to spend the time with them today. Dare I say it, but it does feel like Spring might finally be on its way. Of course I will wake up tomorrow knee deep in snow, but at least I can go to sleep smiling and hopeful. :o:)

Well I only said Spring might be on its way - not here yet and didn't mention Summer. Is that ok? ;):p

We'll see - it's being very touchy at the moment, the weather, and I don't fancy taking any risks at all. As such, I'm personally looking up snow chains, skis and other wintery equipment on ebay and stock piling nice thick rugs to encourage the sun to keep coming out :D

Well I'm trying to be as optimistic as I can. The sun has been out here for three days in a row and hubby even managed to harrow one of the paddocks as it had dried out. In less than 3 weeks time I have to spend 2 nights under canvas at a dressage camp and I really do not want to get frostbite. Auslander who is coming along with me thinks lots of duvets are the answer. I personally am wondering whether it will be warmer if I sleep in the stable with Cam, or if I can squeeze him into the tent.:)

From experience, tents are warmer than stables. Though I'm sure Cam would be a very efficient heat source if you could fit him in with you :D 4 season sleeping bag, with liner and many, many layers. Good luck

Sounds like your fields are in a better state than mine then - still looking very brown / dull green and definitely not harrowed!

I'm thinking maybe lots of red wine for warming purposes only obviously will be the way to go, although I may have to be secured into my saddle with baling twine for the ridden parts. I'm sure my fields are no different to yours, except the brown poached bits are now harrowed. We have little grass to speak of. Luckily mine all live off fresh air. :)

I had my first "sunshine ride" of 2013 today! Yes it was about -100c & we were surrounded by snow, but the golden thing in the sky was there and it made everything a million times better! Fingers crossed for more! x

Hehe can't beat the pseudo-anti-hypothermic effects of alcohol on a cold night :D I'm sure you and Aus will have a blast :)

Cam will NOT be sleeping in the tent! Or if he does - he can stay down your end!

Red wine in vast quantities is the only answer - and I won't have to ride the next day, so claim the lions share!

You've totally jinxed the weather Niki - it's looking grim outside!

Lovely to have the light evenings, hopefully one day we will come into line with the rest of Europe and leave the clocks alone:mad: no need for it to be dark at 4pm....bu££er Scotland - they can have their own time zone!!

Still too cold to enjoy being out in the evening though...
