i recently (last week) sold some horse items on a certain site. the buyer bout about £150 worth of stuff (big cardboard box full) and i said i would send it out next day for her. so sent it second class signed for. ....

contacted by paypal friday saying the guy has opened a dispute for undelivered item, so went to email him and he had emailed me first....

wheres my stuff i have paid for? i expect you to reply because if you think i am going to let this go then you have another think coming, I will be coming to see you this week as you have messed with the wrong person.

WTF??? it has only been a week and that was the first email i had received off him, so i said i would refund, then when the box got there he can send it back to me, or he can wait a few more days to see it arrive, and if it doesnt i will send a refund. i know it has left our post office as i have just been in to make sure.

i apologized, i am not out to rip anyone off.
to me that is a threat right?? or at least it sounds like one. im totally happy to give a refund if box has been lost in post or whatever but all im wondering is if sent 2nd class can it take over a week (well 5-6 working days ) to arrive, is he being to hasty? or am i being a cow bag and should just send a refund now for him ? help please xx

Speak to the post office again - you may be able to track the parcel and see where it's got to. For all you know he's had it and is trying it on. See if you can prove where it's got to before refunding any money.

AH, it's those words "next day"! You said "next day" meaning I'll post it tomorrow, the buyer read "next day" as meaning he would get it tomorrow.

btw, now that this has happened email back saying that you realise where the misunderstanding lies and that you have every faith that the parcel will arrive, give him the tracking number so he can see that you did indeed post it the next day and tell him that you will not refund until the post office's 15 days are up, however should it not arrive in that time you will then refund him and put in the claim. Hopefully that should sort it out.

yes im going to go back tomorrow morning to see if they can, it just doing my head in, im an honest person and wouldnt try rip someone off :( i used my business account on paypal so now i cant do anything because my account is on hold because of this dispute so im loosing money :(
i understand he wants his goods and i would be peevd off to if they didnt arrive but it has only been a week, i have sent out itemss before sencond class and it has taken up to 10-14 days to get places.

If you sent it 2nd class signed for then you will know if/when it gets there and I would expect it to take about 5 working days-ish. Don't take my word on that one though! Speak to Royal Mail and also speak to Ebay customer support - they are very helpful. Good luck :)

Jeez, what a friendly chap you're dealing with. Don't let him intimidate you into refunding the money before you're certain the item is lost -- I highly doubt he'd return the parcel to you. Some people bully others into giving their money back and then walk away with free stuff.

I believe ebay has a policy on the amount of time that has to pass before an item is considered undelivered, something like 2-3 weeks after posting. Check out the exact policy and politely let the buyer know. And in the future, always get tracking or proof of delivery so you can know where the parcel is and whether it's been received.

How does he have your address, and does he remember that you have his address!!!
Very tempting (but not professional if you're running a business) to point this out to him

If you sent it recorded then don't you get a tracking number?

If you have proof of purchase and it gets lost in the post then its tough s***. You are not responsible for the post office and its running!

I would contact ebay and report HIM! That is threatening behaviour to say he will come and find you (or whatever words it was he used). That is disgraceful.

What delivery times did you put in the listing? If you had put 2nd class recorded as a posting method then it should automaticallly state how long RM will take to deliver. Point this out to the buyer.

Raise concern with eBay (although in my experience they are about as much use as a chocolate teapot) and say that a buyer has sent you a threatening email. They can request you forward said email to them so they can see what has been said.

Problem with eBay is that it is all set up in favour of the buyer. Sellers are left high and dry. I recently sold Sabre bridle and clearly stated in my listing under selling T&Cs that I required payment within 24 hours of end of listing.

4 days later no payment, no communication to 4 emails. eBay won't allow you to do anything for a week or more. Tried to cancel transaction and it gets sent to the buyer to approve! WTF????? Payment finaly received and so reluctantly posting bridle to them. Just wanted to offer to next bidder and to hell with winning bidder. If buyers can't stick to T&Cs of the sellers don't blooming bid.

Rant over

Ok if you have sent it recorded delivery, there isnt anything the buyer can do about it. Let him open a dispute and as LONG AS YOU HAVE TRACKING your safe and paypal will be on your side. For you to be protected on ebay/paypal they do require TRACKING which recorded delivery has.Just phone ebay and report the buyer for abusive behaviour.I'll find the link for you.Try this link and click on the CONTACT US

I tried putting requests on my listings - ie request payment within 3 days of item ending. Still had to wait a week for someone to pay! Did it because several times before people just haven't paid up and then i've been left trying to resell etc. I also said on my listing I would post the Saturday after payment is received. Some guy gave me feedback saying postage slow. He paid on a Sunday. Not my fault it took so long to get there then!

Oh god. How scary.

Did you keep the post office receipt? As long as you have this, then you will not have to refund, as it can be proved you posted it. 2nd Class usually takes between 2 to 5 working days to arrive. Perhaps the postman was unable to deliver if no one answered the door for the signature? If that happened, then the parcel is likely to be waiting for collection at their local post office. Did you put your return address onto the package, so if for any reason it isn't delivered, or collected it can be sent back to you.

OK you say hes opened a item not recieved dispute with paypal. Heres what you NEED TO DO:
Look on the reciept, find the tracking number usaully 13 digits, reply to dispute with the tracking number, this proves its been sent and paypal will check the number and if valid will be on your side. Sounds like the buyer is trying to pull a fast one.
DO NOT REFUND,LET PAYPAL SORT IT NOW.

Respond to the dispute in Paypal with the tracking number.

They will check and will expect it to show as delivered. Just having a tracking number will not stop the dispute going in the buyers favour, showing as delivered will stop it.

Do NOT refund before the dispute is resolved.

I doubt the post office has lost a big box, it either hasn't got there yet orhe wasn't there when they tried to deliver.

If you put a senders address on the box you may find it turns up back with you eventually.

Some people ar just so impatient or trying it on.

Did he pay via paypal???

YEP paid via my buisness account on paypal now my account has been frozen because of the dispute! so that means i will not get paid for my work or the things i sell  until the dispute is over!! im so f*ing mad about that... im sorry the items havent reached him yet but why didnt he just contact me rather open a dispute then contact me with abuse :(

AS above. When you have a tracking number and paypal have checked it and are satisfied then they will close the dispute.Usually in the sellers favour.DO NOT REFUND.
