And I thought horse hunting would be so pleasurable.

I saw a dream horse, a beautiful fairytale Arab gelding who, after putting deposit down and vetting has been kicked. No bone damage but soft tissue damage, meds and bute and complete box rest for a month and then reassess.

I am happy to wait but because prognosis isn't cut and dry am still keeping my options open.

Next, gorgeous Haffy, ticks all the boxes. Downside, a long, long way away. Will travel, have travelled, getting fed up of travelling.

Next, gorgeous NF x Percheron, closeby, safe as houses, ticks all the boxes and very close by and ready to go. Not even advertised yet, I was approached after I put out a wanted ad.

Oh, just don't know what to do.

I have put a deposit down on fairytale horse of £500.00. Do I write this off or in the circumstances ask for it back citing uncertainty of future. Have never dealt with soft tissue injuries before so not sure whether they flare up in the future, vet didn't seem to think it would be a problem.

I would wait for the 'dream horse' to be re-assessed in a mnths time - a soft tissue injury if left to heal properly should not cause future problems.

If in a mnths time the 'dream horse' is still not right, then maybe move on and look at others.

Re the deposit, I would ask the buyer for it back - under the circumstances it would be unfair of them to keep it, but tell them you will be keeping in touch.

Hope everything works out!

The injured horse you are definitely entitled to your money back.

Id say view near horse, then consider if you want to travel for other horse.
Dream horse will still be there and you may find you like one of the other two more!

I'd definitely go and view the NF x Percheron in a week/fortnight and see what he's like. Then if all goes well with him you can maybe try again and by the time that comes around, dream horse should be all recovered and you can make a final decision?
