So now we have a Dragon Driving advert to the right - £700

I'm another who has no problem with a 3 year 8 month old being broken and lightly backed. I bought a 3 year 4 month filly in July, who had been backed an very lightly hacked out by herself. She has not been ridden since she got here, but will be brought into work in the spring. Having had a few ride and drives over the the years, I think it will stand her in good stead when she goes out and about

Sorry, i think the pony in the ad just didn't look the age she was supposed to be. Wasn't comfortable with the photos.

FYI all, this pony was advertised elsewhere a few weeks ago as a two year old...when people complained it was then four then three.

Thank you - I KNEW it was not right. Perhaps a welfare call may be needed ? That pony was NOT the age the ad said it was.

Fwiw, if the dealer who placed the ad reads this, perhaps HHO isn't the best place for you to advertise.

I contacted TFC when I first posted this thread to let them know (out of courtesey). Grateful they let the thread run.

She does look a bit immature in the side on photo where she's tied up. But she doesn't look in terribly bad nick otherwise to me. She needs to fill out and muscle up for sure but you would expect her to as she is young.

If she is 2yo not 3yo then no I don't think that she should be doing as much as she is. If she has indeed been advertised at various different ages then that is a concern.

Yes her condition isn't the issue, as she is so young it's understandable. I did enquire on behalf of someone complaining and was told to tell them to visit a racing stable.

Can't see the advert on my computer for some reason but I don't see any issue for Dragon Driving adverts being displayed. Not 'all' of them are neglected horses on there - you can get something very decent for a good price if you look through them. Being broken in as a three year old isn't a crime. It is a regular occurrence in Ireland and my ISH hunted a season as a 3/4 year old over in Ireland.

Should imagine that they would get a better 'type' of person replying to an ad from th H&H than DD, so not all doom and gloom!

Lets hope it finds a nice home.

How on earth do they make any profit out of this pony especially when they include a "bridle, harness and cart"? I don't see the point in putting all that effort in for only £700!

Maybe they just can't afford to keep her anymore? But don't want to give her away to someone who only wants something 'free'. We all know that initial purchase cost is only the very start of horse costs!

H&H and HHO online are commercial ventures. Like most publications, they make the majority of their money from advertising and we are able to use this forum for free because of that advertising, whether we may like the content or not. Some of the dog/puppy ads have made my teeth itch but it's no worse than the newspaper classifieds or Gumtree I suppose!!! Neither of which I now look at for the good of my blood pressure.

I don't see the problem, shysmum. The pony looks in good condition and is rising 4, a perfectly acceptable age to be broken. Its when you see yearlings being driven in sulkys that theres a problem.....

But you don't know it is not right. One person on here has said they have seen the pony advertised elsewhere for different ages. That is not proof that the pony is not 3 or 4 or whatever. I would not say it is 2 however, it does not look like a 2 year old to me at all unless they've been using miracle grow on it's mane and tail and bones.

Anyway even if by some stretch of the imagination it was 2 years and 8 months, they haven't done much with it by all accounts and what they have done with it seems to have been light work. It's quite cute actually and I don't like cobby things so I hope it does wind up in a nice home :smile3:
