Sorry...erm, none of my friends or family are horsey so ive got no one else to tell (i tried - they just glaze over) So be forewarned, this post is pointless and self-indulgent. (also, I'm a bit rubbish at grammar and I like commas)

The 'difficult' horse who I've had on part loan/loan for all of six months; who 'bounces on the spot' 'rears' 'bolts', who you can't canter, can't jump at home, shouldn't hack alone and who you can't even stop in a Pelham; just had a fantastic flatwork session IN A FRENCH LINK SNAFFLE. :D

We've been practising with it for a week or so but today, when we'd walked, trotted a bit, done some fancy sideways stuff, slowly, slowly she started to drop her head, stretch down for the contact. Soon, she had her head on the vertical, working underneath herself, bending properly to the left and right. (with no sawing, or yanking at her face, just steady hands and busy legs!) I nearly cried, my RI was almost jumping up and down, and mentally I blew a big raspberry to all the people who said things like; "she'll kill you with that bit" "I give you ten minutes before you're back for the pelham"
We even had a walk up the lane to cool off. Not quite the epic summer hack, but it was away from home on our own, with no arguments or silliness.

Yesterday, we cantered in the snaffle - and I asked for trot and got it straight away. Earlier in the week, we were jumping at home (not with the snaffle though). No rushing, no bouncing, no rearing just quietly popping jumps, listening to me and behaving beautifully.

I'm so glad I decided to take her on. She's been beautifully schooled in the past but sadly seems to have forgotten a lot. I feel very lucky that she just fell into my lap!

I have no cookies, but you're welcome to share my Greek Turkish delight if youre still here. :-)

Well done!
