Today, at 630 am, they pulled a rig for the first time, and were fantastic!!!!

They're 11 months old, and we've been building up to this moment for several years - on a waiting list, waiting for the bitch to come into season, waiting for the litter to be born, waiting to bring them home, and all the months of training them.

They loved it, took all of the commands, and were just amazing (as was the OH who mushed them, and has done alot of the training with them).

They slept for several hours and are now destroying the house again - bloody, barsteward malamutes :D :D :D
 
A bit miffed about that, MM, the OH had a camera on his helmet, so to speak, to record the happy event.
But the blooming thing didn't record - pooh.

Weather permitting, we'll do the same tomorrow morning, and hope that the video works properly. Their breeder is desperate to see them run, as am I. All I saw was them going out, and them coming in :(
 
Another lovely run today - 10C degrees - perfect. they were raring to go :D

I managed to get a photo when I was calling them in, and hopefully the video thingy worked today!

I'll get the OH to upload them later - I only do furry things!

So, so proud of my sleepy (for now) pups :D
 
It sounds like a lot of fun though the early start would put me off:eek: cant wait for the pics and video.

Re the early start are you not more likely to run into wildlife at that time of the morning.

DG I have actually gone as far as to attach a bell to the dog's harnesses for early morning runs, scares away the deer. :)

You are right re wildlife, but we tend to drive around the trail we're going to take first, and scare away the deer. Buns and squirrels are a bit of a problem though - let's just hope mine have learnt 'on by' and 'NOOOOO' properly :D

It's so peaceful in the forest at that time, apart from the dogs; there are about 4 teams that all meet, all with 5 plus sibes, so that bit's very loud, plus my samoyed yipping, and the mals singing :D but when they go out - the silence is deafening!

Once all the dogs are run and walked (always walk them after mushing to check muscles etc), we can relax and have a well earned coffee, and a good natter.

Then it's back to bed :D :D :D

Yay, we have pictures. They look as if they have being doing it all their lives. I looked at that picture of the 2 of them asleep and thought "oh they look very young to be pulling a rig" and then realised it was a photo of them as puppies, duh.:p
