My little boy had to go into the hospital on Monday night due to having a REALLY NASTY tummy bug and getting dehydrated from it. The children's ward allows one parent to stay there and sleep so I stayed as I didn't fancy taking the bus back that time of night (not to my area anyways!) and don't drive so couldn't drive the car back from the hospital myself.
My OH went home and said he would do the horses and chickens the next day for me!

This is the guy who has only ridden once and that was being led on a walking hack on a dopey 100% bomb proof shire horse 10 years ago and occasionally pets Hattie (and gives her hugs when I'm not looking :D ).

Well, he certainly outdid himself as he managed to get Hattie and the Lil B*st*rd Pony, Chance, out of the stables without mishap, give them their feeds and put the their headcollars on! He even figured out how to put Hattie's rug on (LOL, the first time putting it on backwards- he realized the fleecy bit was supposed to go on the withers and not her bum).

I think Hattie felt for him so she behaved but Lil B*st*rd Pony had him in his sights and did a Houdini and got his headcollar off in one swift movement while tied up and wouldn't let my OH catch him. Or if he did let my OH come up to him, would not raise his head for him to put the headcollar on. My OH held it together and got a bucket with a bit of feed in it so Chance followed him to the field.

He even poo picked in the evening and everything!

Firstly I do hope your little boy is feeling better, and you are ok ,it's quite traumatic for Mums too.

I can understand why you're proud of your OH, quite an achievement. Mmmm now he's shown how capable he is ,who knows how useful he could be in future :)

Awww - best wishes to your son!
And do you hire your OH out? Mind you, I can't complain about my hubby as I have tonsillitis at the mo and incapable of moving off the sofa so he has had to do everything.;)

Thank you all! My son was feeling a bit better today, he played his video game a bit but still can't eat or drink too much without being sick. It's going around the schools in the area at the moment as the nurse that we had, has a daughter at a nearby secondary school (and one where most have younger siblings at my son's school) and she got a phone call from her daughter's school saying that she had been sick. I'm a dinner lady at my son's school so I'm going to be extra careful when I go back so as not to catch it myself as it's very nasty!

LOL, with all this wanting to rent out my OH, he may have to give up his job and become a groom :D
