Well we qualified for the Midland Association of Riding Club Championships this weekend in the ridden hunter having only done 2 of these classes last year and one this year where we qualified.
So as the show was very close
decided to go and also entered the equitation class too.
Lovely YM plaited Pidge for me and sewed them in and I did his tail and she sewed that too so off we set all spick and span.
15 of us in the class so really had no chance of a rosette as we don't really do showing. Group ride was fine until we all cantered and then Pidge got a little keen shall we say, and as for the extension well I think he thought he was going XC again
So we all lined up and the judge rode each horse, then we had to strip them and trot them up for the conformation judge and then get back on. Well they pulled in the first 6 and then had a big conflab and continued to pull people in. Judge then came and had another good look at Pidge and pulled him in 10th
well I had a huge smile on my face and our fan club went wild
I was as you can tell over the moon
The judges were so nice and had a chat with everyone. He said Pidge had obviously hunted before and was definately a masters horse
and that I did a good job riding a difficult horse
so understandably I was made up
Then we entered the equitation class and came 7th out of 9 by which time both me and Pidge were cooking as it was so muggy on Saturday
Had a fab day but my hat goes off to the judges as they were on the go all day and the one judge had to ride an awful lot of horses and despite the equitation class being late on so delaying the evening performance, I think?, he still had time for a quick chat with each competitor
So having thought I wouldn't even get a rosette I came out with a 7th and 10th
Big thanks to Sis for being groom, mum and dad for running around, Mooch and CJ, Gem for plaiting wonderfully, and my other friends for turning up to support me, it meant a lot.
Apologies for the long post but I am just so proud of Pidge to have done so well bearing in mind we don't really do showing
cookies if you got this far
