...please.

As title. We are about to move our barefoot two back to the south of Spain - rough, rocky, desert terrain - and I need boots to help them survive until their feet get used to it again.

One Anglo Arab, who has inherited his mother's flat soled, low heeled, circular, medium sized dinner plates.

One crossbreed with nice, concave little ballet feet.

Thankies:D

Oh yes, AA will be doing endurance in the future, so preferably something rugged and long lasting for him :)

Have a look at the EasyCare website, they have nice templates that you can print out to judge size and shape of boots against feet. The best ones for round feet are the Old Macs G1s; Gloves are probably the most popular choice for 'normal' shape feet.

Easyboot Gloves are definitely the best boot on the market at the moment. They work just as well with round feet, get the size that fits the length and don't worry if the sides bulge out a little bit. You can add little slits at the side to give the hoof a bit more room if you want.

You will probably find that once in the environment of southern Spain your A/A's feet will concave beautifully - just make sure you aren't feeding anything with molasses in it. Flat feet are not inherited but develop from too much sugar/starch in the diet. An arid, rocky environment with little or no green grass is far more suitable for healthy barefeet than the UK. You're very lucky to be moving back there!

Thanks - I will look at those too!

Um, yeah. I live in Spain at the moment - just the wrong bit :D

My horses get no green grass and are fed on year old hay, soaked oats and un molassed beet pulp. Ari's feet have improved no end since I have had him and I hope they will continue to do so in the south as the drier climate will be better for his feet. At the moment he has a sole bruise from going up the mountain tracks the other day (we have been sticking to the roads and fields as we bring them back into work) so boots look like the way forward for him at least. FB's feet are much tougher things!

My old macs have done my horse very well through the wintera and he has done alot in them, fast work, sj, xc and ages long cantering to get fit

OK, so Ari has feet that are 120mm x 120mm and FB 120mm long by 115 wide We can roll Ari's toe a little more and take a little off the side walls as he is between trims. When you say slits - what do you mean? And how much stretch do they have? Should we look at size 0.5 or 1?
