My parents are in Greece, they met a lovely little stray dog on the side of the road... In which my mum was making a real fuss of it.
Then these Albanian kids come running round the corner and starter beating the dog, my mum was shouting at them to stop and they just carried on.
Its so sad, my mum has been looking for the dog all day and has not seen him, poor love.
Why are there such horrid people in the world.
Its made me so sad thinking about it now.

Oh that is just awful

I know, my mum now thinks they have cooked him

as the kids were sleeping on the side of the road.

Things like this are just awful! Gosh if we sat and thought about what might go on in the world we would all be in tears 24/7! I hate seeing the adverts of how animals are treat, like bears that are tied up for being to look at! Its just nasty and disgusting.

I really feel for your mum, I don't know what I would have done. I would probably have ended up beating the little kids!!!!

Ugh, I think I would've grabbed a rather large stick to keep those kids at bay.

My aunt's friend has a villa in Portugal, and last year found a puppy in the bin behind her house. Though barely alive, she sent the pup to a vet's and then away to a sanctuary while she sorted out the paperwork, and he is now living it up on a farm in Lancashire

I have to remind myself of stories like this, otherwise I'd go insane thinking of all the cruelty--human and animal--in the world.

Nothing unusual in Greece i'm afraid. Have a look at this site http://www.greekanimalrescue.com
If you think some people are cruel to animals in this country then Greece is a whole other world. I looked it up after following a thread on Doglost about a dog that was rescued in Greece and rehomed over here but ran away after an hour of being at his new home. I'm seriously thinking about rehoming one myself!

Interesting link; nothing like what I have experienced when I have been in Athens though. Right in the middle of the city there will be dogs lying around in small packs in the middle of the road; the first time I was astonished to see (over and over again) drivers stopping for the dogs or going carefully around them. Many of the motorbikers stop and pat the dogs.

Perhaps this is a country versus town mentality? Or perhaps it is down to some peoples being more tolerant.

Molineux; not a nice thing for your Mum to witness, hope she finds the dog.
