Every morning I beat the whole yard up the stables by about an hour so I feed all the horses and ponies. Some of them are a real pain too because I have to open buckets and add water etc. For the second time since being up there I was late (up there since October last year so I have done the whole winter near as damn it). I was late because I am feeling a bit under the weather and found everything else was fed except mine!

I am so angry and just had to share my frustration with you lot because I'm pretty sure you will understand - OH is equine intollerant.....

Woman who beat me up there said Oh I thought you might want to exercise him - she knows I work full time and there would be no way I could exercise him at that time of the morning!

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

I appreciate you are feeling a bit let down and it can't be easy to feed everyone else's horse, but if this other woman did think you wanted to ride she did the right thing not to feed your horse. Since you do feed them all everyday she may have thought you had the day off and wanted to ride? Imagine if that was the case and on your only day off you didn't get to ride because she had mistakenly fed your horse?

More of a misunderstanding than selfishness IMO. If she was being selfish she would only have fed her horse and none of the others.

Sorry...

Sorry, I agree with Booboos - sounds like just a misunderstanding....but if that were me I would have sent you a quick text to ask!
I'm in the same situation as you - ever weekday morning I'm up at the yard at 6:00am and feed the others too.
At the weekend, I tend to get up there nearer to 7:00am-7:30am, by which time one of the other ladies is usually there. She will feed my ridable horse who is on the main yard but she wont go into my field to feed my retired boy, who's shelter converts into his stable which I shut him in at night over winter, even though I trudge cross her field to feed her yearling every weekday morning when I'm in a rush!! Very annoying!!

He is an 11.2 pony with a handful of feed - she must be very very stupid if she thinks that would upset his delicate tum before exercise. ;-)

It's more annoying getting up to ride and someone has fed! I've had it done to me an done it to other people, it's always a misunderstanding.
Irishbabygirl I'd be a tad put out if I fed someones horse everyday yet no one would feed mine. I would definitely ask this woman withthe yearling if she could feed your oldie as you do the same and feed her field kept yearling. If she says no say well you better get up and feed yours in the week then! You don't have to not feed it, but it makes your point.

I know, and very much agree, and wish I had the balls to say that to her but said lady is the YO!

Shouldn't be scared of saying it as it is even if it is the YO. they are only people. to m that even worse as my YO would never leave a horse unfed. I think it's shows a lack of horsy love right there.

Op i know plenty of people who wouldn't work after that small feed. I feed chaff only and get disapproving looks when I get straight on for a walking hack. Im sure your unbacked native requires the entire bucketful of hard feed!

...and surely by the time you've mucked out, groomed, tacked up etc, etc enough time would have passed for your 'handful of chaff' to go down?!

This would annoy me. Is it not possible for you to bring your own horse in and feed him and the put back out. You could just say you dont know who is planning on riding etc in the day, and concentrate on your own horse. To me unless someone has specifically asked for someone to see to their horse, evryone should just worry about their own. I would be furious if i had fed everyone elses and they didnt do the same for me. But it does sound like lack of communication i agree with the others that i would be more annoyed if i planned going out and someone else fed my horse. Serious lack of communication and people clearly happy for you to see to their horses, If you not doing it as a job or specifically asked. I would let people see to their own. x
