For the past 10 months horse has had ongoing back and saddle issues, this has resulted in about 4 visits from the saddler, huge vet and physio bills too.
Finallly decided to get another saddler's opinion on her saddle.
Absolutely shocked that within the first two minutes that the saddler picked up the saddle she told me the head plate is cracked

.
Sure enough, took the saddle apart and thee is was, split right down the middle

Cannot believe that the previous saddler (who is quite well reccomended) didn't notice this, kicking myself I didn't get a second opinion earlier.
I've now bought a lovely (but this time structurally sound) second hand saddle (a Dominion Huntsman, beautifully refurbished)
Looking foreward to getting up and going for a hack knowing both me and the horse are comfy!
Rant over.

I'm very tempted to go up ranting and raving but I think I'll keep my trap shut - she works at the local tack shop where I'm in quite often

Well I would tell her, not in a nasty way but if it were me and I'd made a mistake like that I'd want to know about it.
Poor pony, what a shame hopefully he'll feel much better now.

Hope so too, she's always had a few pronounced vertabrae in her spine...if got another "the saddle's fine" I was going to call up the vet about getting xrays for KS..

in all honesty i ould tell the saddler...she has provided you a service which she hasnt fulfilled...the saddle isnt fit for the prupose intended...you should if you go to trading standards be able to get some compensation back for the money you have spent out.....

i would tell her regardless she needs to know that she has made a mistake and hopefully try to loearn from it....
