so me and lily had our first clinic tonight, we were supposed to be going with a friend and her pony, in their trailer…that plan went haywire when her pony said he was absolutely under no circumstances going anywhere with lily, and in the end he didn’t settle so they ended up taking home home…had a stress, rang my mum, and thought sod it, i’ll take myself!

my first time towing with a horse in, lilys first ever outing and only maybe the 5th time she’s travelled at all, and i honestly could not fault my little superstar! understandably spooky at the clinic, but went straight on and travelled beautifully and stood SO patiently at the trailer whilst i got her ready/unready - that was what i thought would be the worst part, but she was such a gem. she might be a bit daft but she tries so so hard, and i couldn’t be prouder of her (and me!)🥹

i’d only picked my trailer up that morning, and whilst i was putting her boots on to load her on friends trailer the guy who serviced it was in the process of fixing a light that had gone out on the way home!

Well done!!!!

I loved being capable of hitching up and taking myself out without relying on anyone else. Doing it for the first time is definitely something to be proud of 👏
in a weird way, im glad it happened the way it did…i didn’t have a choice if i wanted to go, but i’ve done it now so i know i’ll be fine next time! my first outing with diva will be an interesting report, i’ll definitely need all hands on deck for that one i think🤣

Well done you two. And for a first outing to boot. Good horse, being so well-behaved. You're right to be proud of yourself!

Once you've done it, the confidence will only grow, that must feel great. I have to admit that for our first outing (only the other week) I was very glad I didn't have to drive home myself. I used a horse taxi service (don't own a trailer, nor a permit), and as I was positively knackered, was very happy to be driven home. Still, would be great to be able to go out and about by myself, it's on the wish list!

thankyou! my family and friends at the yard were all telling me how proud they are of me, and all i could do was gush about what a little angel my pony is🤣

i definitely think it would be nice to be driven home after a long day showing, but last season we walked to and from the showground on foot so driving myself home is much better than that!😂 OH loses his brownie points he gained from helping me because he left my flipping ramp down all night! more fool me for not checking it after he brought the haynets down😩🫣
