Deary me...
So, pretty much for the first time in 11 years....there are no dogs outside!
I packed them off for their holidays a few days before mine so I could get some work done.
I thought I would enjoy the peace and quiet, but it was horrible!
It is so weird looking outside and not seeing a dog looking up hopefully and wondering if we are going out, a dog lying snoozing, even a dog going spare because the cheeky cat is parading past with in inches of their noses, with her tail in the air.
I don't have to get up at the crack of dawn to feed them or take them out for a run.
I have spent the last two days going to put on my waterproof and wellies and then realising I don't have to.
It feels so weird and has made me realise how much of my life is actually spent with them
I spent ages getting to sleep last night panicing, we live in the middle of nowhere and while it is annoying when they start up at 4am because a fox dared to make a move three fields away, it is lovely to know they are there and will raise merry hell at the slightest disturbance
The whole place feels completely empty!
So the next time you hear me complain about them, the next time you see me write 'BLOODY DOGS!' just remind me of this feeling.
What the hell do we do without them??!!!
And, of course, they didn't give me backward glance when I left them off yesterday...
