So tell me about Grimsby

Grimsby stinks of fish? yeah - just as much as Hull does now!

Nothing wrong with Grimsby, its just like any other urban centre of the same size.
Lots of lovely countryside a short drive away, unspoilt coast and villages which have very reasonably priced houses for sale or rent.
All I can say is go visit and explore the area - I bet you will be pleasantly surprised.

Nice place.

Lots of places to hack if a little featureless and flat, but then again Lincolnshire is flat.

And as was previously mentioned, Cadwell Park...the most exciting motorbike race circuit in the UK..... maybe the world....is just down the road. Roll on August bank holiday!!!

Market Rasen is just a few miles away too... if you enjoy racing.

Every town is what you make of it..so go make the best of it.

Needs a like button!!!!!:D:D:D:D

Useful venues all the same

Yes I agree with this. I like Caistor very much, and they have an ace little xc course which you can hire out for a lesson on your own horse.

Horseworld has SJ practise days which I have found useful, as the low level SJ/DR...

However neither run "international" competitions... and out of the two the facilities at Caistor are far superior.

There is some fabulous riding on the Wolds this side of Grimbsy...local hunts organise pleasure rides, and so the the BHS, and you get to go off the bridle paths onto some fabulous land....

There is one particular stretch of bridle way that goes through the bottom of a valley, you just keep going and going, perfect for galloping, sounds liks you are the cavalry with just a few of you! :D

I'll have to dig out the map, I can't remember what that area is called.

...and of course, the new Lindsay Trail is now open, 75 mile loop open to horses, carriages, cyclists and walkers. :D

...in fact, we should start up a little 'HHO Lincs' club; meet up for rides etc. Someone last year was asking a similar question with moving to this area and I said I'm willing to go out for rides, but never heard anything more. :(

I probably should have said internationally sponsored but any way I doubt anyone could describe north Lincolnshire as flat Lincoln Cathedral sits at the top of a lane called Steep Hill which is exactly what it is. North of Lincoln the hills roll into the wolds and then down to the sea.
South of Lincoln it is very flat mile upon mile of open and dreary arable fields with nothing stopping the wind from the sea for miles. Ask my cycling nephew just how hilly Lincolnshire is he recently rode his bike from Sheffield to Cleethorpes and he hadn't realised how hilly this area was
I used to live in the south of the county but I love the north it is stunningly beautiful, the weather is better than a lot of Britain and where we are the sandy soil means we have no mud and that is why I love it here
