.... and this is Dexter. They think he is Staff X Ridgeback..... but who knows for sure! He is quite tall and has paws WAY to big for the rest of him, they think he is about 2, but still very puppyish, had been in kennels for 6 ish months, but seems to be toilet trained (there is a god!)- and is happy to of been rehomed!

Aww lovely :) and how nice for him to be in a home after so long.
I hope he brings you much happiness and not too many chewed shoes :p:D:D.

Aww, lovely. Butter wouldn't melt in that 2nd pic! Lol. Hope to hear of some updates once his personality starts to come out.

Thankies all- me thinks he is going to be a daddies boy!!! But seems to be taking to life at home well. Loving proper food, and his kong stuffed with mince! He did try to snog an old lady who stopped to say hello this morning tho- ooopppsss! She didnt seem to mind!!

Am going to look into training classes with him!

It is so odd how people have odd misconceptions of staffy types- this is all through showing them a pic:

My mum "looks like he could eat you if he wanted to, wasnt there a Rottie you were going to see to?" - I mentioned a Rottie that was there.... because of course A staff cross is more likey to "eat you" than any other dog

My godsons father "why would you choose a dog that was capable of over powering you" oh ok becasue a Lab couldnt possibly do that......

My Oh's mum " I really dont like staffies, hes nicer though as he is a cross, but still dogs with a wide jaw make me nervous"

EH?

Daft really isn't it. Yes a dog like a staffie/rottweiler/bull dog can no doubt do more damage if it did go in to full attack mode as it does have that powerful jaw but, in my opinion a dog's a dog and it's temperement has much more to do with how it has been brought up, treated and socialised from an early age than down to what breed it is.

I find it very sad such a young dog was in kennels. From the sounds of it he was just over a year when he went to the kennels? When we got our GSD x from Dogs Trust she was about 7 mths (she's just come in the day before). Me thinks it is cos they have just got through the cute, cuddly stage and got to the chewing, destructive, separation anxiety stage!!!

Glad this one has found a loving home with you. Sounds like a character!

Entirely agree... I thinkDex got to the I can eat pretty much anything in 2 secs stage and someone kicked him out- found stray. :(

Any dog can de dangerous, the odd thing is, when you ask them, have you ever had a bad experience with a staff they all say " no but you hear stories dont you" erm no I havent.... NOW BE NICE TO MY BOY, or it will be me that you need to watch LOL LOL

Lovely to see him in a nice home.
Sad to say he isn't my type of dog, but that is my opinion and tbh many people don't like the look of whippets either, so swings and roundabouts!
Good luck with him, I am sure he will be a wonderful dog for you. It is also nice when landlords agree to pets / dogs, I don't think there is enough of them out there to support our ''entire'' families, 2 and 4 legged!

As a big lover of staffies and the owner of 2 rescues, I do try to give people correct information. They are often taken aback as I can sound (ahem!) quite "posh". I point out that the victorians called these dogs the "nanny dogs" as they are so good with children and originally - they only belonged to the upper classes. Being horsey though, what I found strikes a note is emphasising how it is time to claim back the staff for what it is - a terrier with all that brings, highly energetic, terrific fun and very people focused. So I think your boy is lovely and is it SOOO nice to read about a sucessful rehoming - I get the "about to PTS" posts sent to me which is heartbreaking so you have made my evening..

Does that mean I get to meet Dex then?! and which rescue did he come from - PM if preferred! I live just outside Dorking in the village with the spectecular bonfire.. !
