So upset - my cat's gone missing!

I havent seen my Siamese since last night - it's very out of character and she always comes when I call for her. We have just got a new cat (supposedly as a friend for the Siamese) but she hasnt taken to him very well. I am sitting here crying buckets because she is such a special friend and I know she doesnt do this. Have searched the house high and low, have been outside with munchies and shouted for her. Nothing. I feel as though I've driven her away. It is so unlike her. Poor girl. I dont know what to do. We live on a farm in the middle of nowhere so I'm worried she's got herself trapped somewhere.

More tears writing this - I am just so upset.
 
Are you absolutely sure she hasn't found a hidey hole in the house somewhere ? A friend of mine bought a new puppy after her old dog died and one of her cats took offence to him and disappeared.she was found 3 days later in the airing cupboard. It does sound like yours has thrown a strop about the new lodger, i hope you find her soon.

Our house isnt that big and I know she'd gone outside cos the door into the hall had been opened. Have checked all round the house but maybe I've missed somewhere. I hope so. I feel so responsible. I really hope she turns up because she is a seriously special cat.
 
Oh dear, I know how you feel. My cat went missing for a day, we couldnt find her anywhere. It turns out she had jumped up onto the utility room cupboard and fallen down the back. I saw her arm sticking out underneath over 12 hours later. I was beside myself and couldnt stop crying either. I walked around the estate and garden over 100 times shouting for her.

She is probably sulking somewhere and will materialise when she has got overherself. If she knows you are upset, she will be less likely to come out of hiding. Stay strong for both of you.

I hope you find her soon.
 
Dont worry! i live in the middle of a massive nature resurve and my cat who's usually a home boy went missing for a couple of days and then come back, my other one will stay indoors for ages not wanting to go out then go missing for a week and turn up looking fine, cats are very independant, go and and call her a couple of times incase she has lost her way, but they are a lot more clever than you think.
 
I can only empathise with you I think she may have gone off somewhere a bit miffed. If she was hunting she may have just tucked up somewhere and will turn up when you least expect it.
When I had my previous cat I often ended up sat on a kitchen chair by the back door shivering at 4 am trying to call her quietly so I didnt annoy the neighbours. She once disappeared for 24 hours eek!

Don`t worry I bet she will turn up and lap up all the attention. I had a siamese and they are very independent, he would go off hunting and spend days away. We were like a pit stop for love and food and then he would be off hunting again. If she is a little miffed at the new arrival she will get over it, try not to worry. I bet you are walking the lanes and fields calling - have been there and you usually get a happy outcome. Chin up.
 
Was it another siamese you bought.If not she is off in the huff.Mine was in the garage for 2 days.Late at night is best whens its quiet, she might hide for all the noise.
Dont loose hope, siamese are a law to themselves, i should know I have 6 and was a breeder(small) for 17 years and was all over the uk showing.
 
One of my siamese did this (the one in my sig), I was worried to death - eventually tracked him down after a day and a half. I hope yours turns up, fingers crossed.
 
One of mine did this as well last year - very out of character for it as the cat in question is a real home-cat (ie. wont go outside if its wet or cold!), she usually sits in a bush near the door. But one time she was out all day long and into the night, we were worried sick about her. We did one finally check outside switching on the light to find her sitting on the patio table looking at us!! They worry you sick sometimes. Hope you find her soon x
 
Do you have a litter tray that your cat has used? If so, dont clean it and leave it outside. If your cat has got lost the smell can help to guide it home. Also ring round your local vets and let them know. Put up some posters and ask your neighbours to check their shed, garages etc in case the cat has got locked in.

This has happened with several of our cats over the years and has always been so distressing, but all I can say is every single time they have come back or been found x
 
Don't give up hope. Last year (to the week!!!!!) we went on hols to the Lake District for a few days, left our two cats in the care of my friend, who popped round to feed them and keep an eye on them. The cat that doesn't like outdoors didn't come in on the Monday night (he's a greedy whatsit), still wasn't in by Tuesday morning so on Tuesday night she rang us to tell us. We cut our holiday short, drove home on Wednesday and spent Wednesday afternoon printing literally 100's of missing adverts and signs, putting them through people's doors.

People were so so helpful. In the end by sheer good fortune, my OH went to talk to our neighbour who had been out prior to that point, and went into her garden and started to call Louis...a squeaking was heard from over the fence...the new people next door but one who are renovating their house whilst not living there, had locked Louis in the shed. My OH climbed the wall, broke in to the shed and let Louis out, who flew over the walls and ran in the cat flap like nothing had happened. He has now taken to sleeping in conifer trees at the very top, which is not normal.

Try looking firstly in your own house - gotten under floorboards? Attic? Cellar? Greenhouse? Coal scuttle? Travel basket? Look in and around farm machinery - has she found a warm spot? Where else is your scent? Do you have a stash of old clothes or blankets anywhere else that she may have gone to for refuge? Put up missing signs (if you have any thoroughfare).

The one thing to console yourself with is that they do normally find a way home on their own. Good luck, I remember how distressing and traumatic it is (me and OH bawling our eyes out for hours springs to mind). Thinking of you x
 
Thanks everyone for your reassurances. I still havent found her - and yes I've been scouring the countryside loking for her. Been to see the neighbours and the local shop. I will keep everything crossed and of course will let you all know what happens.

I hope she comes home soon - I know what a worry it is when you're cat goes missing.
Hopefully she's just had her nose put out of joint by the new arrival!
 
Can I just advise to check every single bush or hedge etc. in your garden. One of my other cats went missing 2 years ago, he was missing for several days - we'd looked where we thought was everywhere (our garden is huge...) but after about 4 days I finally found him. He was lying under a hedge less than 3 metres from the house (as I said, our garden is massive and full of hedges so very hard to spot things in them etc.). Sadly he had broken his leg in a big way, we think he must have been hit by a car and managed to get into the hedge and not move. He was put down, absolutely heart wrenching. Im not trying to worry you more though, just please look really really hard into bushes etc.
 
Mine went missing after we got our second cat - he was away 2 days and I was very upset but then he just turned up again (very hungry). They don't usually go far and you're lucky because Siamese cats are very distinctive so post some flyers through all the neighbours doors within range and fingers crossed someone will spot her. Is she microchipped?
 
Unfortunately she isnt microchopped - it's one of those things I kept meaning to do. But hadnt got round to it. The worst thing is thinking that she's got herself down a rabbit hole and cant get herself out. The thought of this is really hurting because if she is, I am so close but cant hear her because of the traffic going past. That's why I thought I'd wait til later on and go out with a strong torch and call her.

Thank you Puss_in_Boots - have just been wandering with torch but nothing I'm afraid. Just lots of rabbits - I keep hoping though. May be she'll be here when I wake up in the morning (if I can sleep at all).
 
My Bengal went missing for 8 days! We rang round everyone, searched everywhere we could think to no avail.
On the 8th day I went up to bed and there she was - curled up on the bed, thin but ok. She was gone all over the bad weather and snow that we had. I know how you are feeling.

Just a thought, the Cats Protection people told us to leave pilchards on a plate outside. They use this to catch strays coz the smell travels a long way - maybe worth a try.

I'll give it a go. Will try anything. Our only problem is that we live in the middle of nowhere and the pilchards might attract the foxes!!!

I hope that your cat comes home safe & sound. Our (very lazy ginger boy) went missing for a couple of days. We searched everywhere for him and went out along the lanes and called him, down the fields and footpaths - not a trace! He blithely turned up the following evening as if he had never been away!! He was completely fine and was none the worse for his adventure.

I do so hope that your cat will re-appear, just like it has never been away....*crosses fingers & paws* xx
 
I cant believe I'm posting aat this time of the night. But I cant sleep and keep hearing the cat flap. Well at least that's what I think. At least it's mild night tonight cos she hates the rain and cold. But at this time still no sign.
