And it was amazing - i am so pleased with my spooky, sod to load 5 year old!! he loaded perfectly, met a donkey and a stallion, had to hack to a different yard to do the training once we got there due to waterlogged ground...and he behaved like an utter star and did everything he was asked!!

Happy happy Ash!!!!

Is trec more popular these days? i always wanted to do it but was never anywhere near me. i'm talking 10 year ago maybe.

I think so think its 'up and coming' juat recently one of the rc in the area have started training days and a local ec run a winter trec series. you should try to give it a go i loved it!

Somone suggested I gave indoor le trec a go, but wasn't sure. Going to look in to it more now.. Glad you had a success! :)

Yep we had to go under thing, over things, theough random things was so good and wee gingers brain was well occupied (he gets bored easily hes got an arab brain!)

Trec is a bit more than Handy Pony! Glad you had a good day. In brief Trec develops the skills horse and rider need to confidently ride in an unfamiliar area alone. For example crossing a ford or footbridge, jumping fallen trees or ditches, opening gates, going under low branches, leading downhill, bending between trees, cantering narrow paths etc. Also map reading and judging speed. Trec competitions test the partnership at different levels, and indoor Trec is just the obstacles not navigation! A perfect Trec horse would be a brave but calm mount, sure-footed and a pleasure to ride all day in a new area. They come in all shapes and sizes and Trec is probably the most fun you can have with your horse.

It's been up and coming for about 10 years now! It's great fun and something that all horses can be good at whatever their breed. My friesian loved it as it used her brain (as well as mine)!
