So after much debate (and the fact that i have decided to go WL on thursday) off we went to patchetts this afternoon. I must admit, the fact that mine was the last class (this meaning i could sleep in
) tipped the decision.
So, i get there probably a little earlier than needed, but i did ring up ahead of time and if things were running to shedule i would of been spot on. As it was they were only on the third class....and mine was the fifth (one meter) class!!
The carapark was packed to say the least and we had trouble finding somewhere to park (although i later realised there is a much bigger place over the bridge). Hey-ho. We had loads of time to kill and so watched alot of people go round....and round....and round....
We had to wait 2 hours for my class to start, but eventually i walked the course and felt quite happy with things. It seemed pretty straight forward, the height didn't seem too full up and the surface and space were perfect. My friend-come groom tacked up and i got on board. Warmed up well and had no stops in the collecting ring (this has been a problem with my new mare that we have worked through). Was a little nervous but there weren't many in the class and all i wanted was a clear. It must of been harder than it looked because there were only four clears - and i had one of them!! My mare got a bit onward bound so for the jump off i wanted to steady up a bit (its more about riding well and trying to get to to know my new mare a little better than anything else at this point.)
I was going to be placed whatever (unless i got eliminated i guess
). I started off well, nice and steady to the first two but a little deep to the third which we had down. Thats when i lost my way a little
...i totally forgot where i was going and had to pull up for a second to find my bearings!! No matter...i rode the last few fences but ended up with time penalites for taking so long!!
BUT...i still got forth place!! YeY!! Its my first BSJA placing so forgive me for being a little self indulgent, but im so excited about my new girl!!!
