Basically, I showjump, that's what I love, however my sister & I have been asked to take part in the Pony Club Area Trials, so this sunday we head to Tattersalls to the Irish Pony Club to have a practice run!

Thing is, I havn't been eventing in two years :/ We still do lots of dressage & cross-country schooling, but never actually event!

Tips on what to bring?
Anything to calm my nerves?!
Help?!

There are a lot of eventers of all standards over on CR.
My top tips would be:
Have everything organised.
Dressage - learn your test, well & make sure it's the correct one. There is nothing more disconcerting than being a bit unsure if it. Have a practise in a 20x 40 arena (they're always smaller than you think) & on grass.
Tack - simple snaffle bridle, grackles, drop, flash & cavesson nosebands allowed. No martingale, no boots. Appropriate studs & horse & rider turned out immaculately.
Correct dress for rider is tweed, coloured stock or PC tie, cream breeches, black or brown leather boots. Plain black or navy jackets are also ok but bling jackets are frowned upon. You may need your own number bib
Saddlecloths/numnahs should be plain white, brown or black. No embroidery.
Jumping - your hat for jumping phases will need to be checked & tagged. Showjumping you can use your normal showjumping tack & your dress will be as for dressage (but with a tagged hat)
XC - you can wear whatever jumper/colours you like. You will need a BETA level 3 body protector & a medical card in your arm. Horse wise I tend to use my SJ tack with an overgirth on the saddle. I boot up the horse with protective boots all round.

After XC you will need plenty of water to wash horse down to cool off.

If you wear spurs and don't have your B, make sure you keep a spurs card from your DC in your jodhpur pocket/ somewhere you won't forget it.

Plan out the day well when you get times. Allow an hour to walk the XC, but because it's areas your team trainer will probably walk it and SJ with you. Because it's areas, it'll be a bit intense, but equally a lot easier because someone will hold your hand for you :)

Check the Pony Club rule book too. They will do a tack check, so make sure all your stitching is good, stirrups the right size etc. You will need long sleeves for XC, no visible jewellry,
