I have 2 foals this year and i am keeping one, she is called black velvet, had a thread on here so you prob have seen her. shes a wee honey, love the bones of her. She is a coloured irish sport horse.
she has great strong bone clean leg and very well marked, excellant conformation, amazing temperament. well handled, so fell over heels for her and keeping her, but have decided that just after she was born, just love her.
so hopefully she will be my future riding horse fo life, all being well. :)

other foal is heavy coloured colt foal and her is a big chunk of a foal, he is for sale and might be going to england. have a few looking at him at min so he will be sold shortly. hes a wee gem, so good and well mannered.

so what breeds have you got and what are you doing with them, keeping, selling, sold. any pics would be cool, as we all love looking at them.
 
I have a now 5 month old Shetland filly, who came to me when she was 2 months old with her dam.

I had always intended to sell her, but she is a cracking little madam with a huge personality, so am rather tempted to keep her....
 
One this year, ID filly, although weve had people wanting to buy shes a keeper. Two ISH yearlings, one was supposed to be for sale and isnt, one wasnt supposed to be for sale and will be :D

Capriole i know what you mean, i wasnt ameant to keep black velvet, but just fell for her. lol, horses just do these things to you.:D
 
Thats where I'll have seen it then, think weve got some FB friends in common as well. Is it you thats got a very nice bay filly too?

Lol, I never know anyone's proper name, find it very hard to equate who is who on here or there; senility is stepping in!

Yes, you mean Tara; same sire, different dam by Loughehoe Guy but you can see the similarities although he has more bone.
Sorry OP, know she's a yearling..........(and again, she's just out in the field, knows her manners very well and that's it for now)

Bred 8 this year, sold 4 so far. The 4 unsold are my young stallions 2nd crop, so I'm happy to hang onto them for a while and see how they grow.

We've got one palomino TBxHanoverian colt, one buckskin TBxHanoverian filly, one palomino TBxOldenburg filly, one palomino TBxKWPN filly.

At the moment we've just chilling, spook-busting and preparing for weaning, and having our annual halloweenlings photos (what you cant see is that some of them are wearing shoes and trousers!)

Thank you! I'm a little nervous, he is my first horse foal, I've only had pony foals so not sure what differences to expect? He's already almost as big as the ponies and he's not even 6 months old yet! Lol!

2 colts, weaning next month. For Sale at the right price but seeing as horse prices are currently rockbottom, they will stay until next Summer, longer if they morph into cut and shuts as yearlings.

there all wee stunners, lovely colours. i love when they changing coats, its like there unwrapping. keep them coming, love seeing them now, also have to take a few more pics of black velvet she has grown so much, so tall.
 
I bought a mare and colt foal earlier this year, planning to retain the foal and sell mum after weaning, however I appear to have got a buy two get one free deal !

presently have 2 7 and 8 month old connie x TB filly half sisters that my mother bred this year. Due to be weaned very soon now. One mare back in foal to same stallion at Hen Knight's connamara stud
 
The answer to the OP's question from here is, "Absolutely nothing!":)

One of my Highland foals! Only two colts and a filly this year and all will be kept on and broken -- or at least started for the buyer to take on. We don't do much with them until they are weaned as the mares are initially quite foal proud and we can't get near them anyway. We can't see much advantage to early handling as they come around quick enough.

This one born in June has been touched on the nose and bum but no more. We are expecting him to be a grey dapple, darker than his mum, but to eventually grey out. (And, yes, he has been eating his mother's mane and tail. Little b*gg*r! You should see the stallion's tail!). His half brother in the background is a month younger and a lot bolder. The second picture is of the filly born at the end of last month.

Just bear in mind that these are Highland ponies and not meant to be like those poor emaciated spindly legged TBs and sports horses above!!!:D:D:D The grey mare is not actually as fat as she appears but is a big strong chunky lass and her daughter will (eventually) be the same!

I am waiting for my 2 sec a foals to arrive from stud once they are weaned and had some basic handling.

All your foals look so lovely and leggy - Evie, being around 25 inches tall has no chance of looking all foaly and long legged!

She is full of character, chases the other ponies away from me and loves having her bum scratched. To move her we don't lead her dam and she follows, her dam is very timid so we lead Evie and her mum follows her! She is a dominent little girl who will need some firm handling, but we all love her to bits :)

Enfys I love your palomino foals. I already got a palomino warmblood gelding which I am going to back next year hopefully. I love to have another palomino but I doubt my other half will let me have one :(
