Just wondering what everyone feeds, what sort of horse and what workload they are in.

My 17.3, rising 5y old in light/meduim work (TBx) is on
Baileys Topline cubes, barley rings and the feed stores own brand chaff

My fatties (all welshes) in similar work to above are on
Pegasus Chaff, Soya oil and one is on a COFF supplement by equine america

Both my cob (rising 4) and welsh section b (rising 7) ad lib hay (always have some left and they do get a lot!) Not much feed: handful economy mix twice a day with naf general purpose supplement and global herbs flax oil. Both in light work.

Quite simple really . . .

Rubbish grazing during the day (no hay in field - although others do - I just don't b/c he's a tad porky)
Half a slice of one of those huge bales of hay on the floor and the other half in a medium, small-holed haynet
Quarter scoop Alfa A Molasses Free morning and evening
Quarter scoop Blue Chip Original morning and evening
If worked that day, quarter scoop Speedibeet with evening feed

No supplements or other additives . . . unless you count the odd polo or Badminton horse treat ;).

P

My 16:1 IDxTB hunter has Hi-Fi molasses free, high fibre cubes and calm n condition oh and Naf D-Ty and my heavweight cob has a basic chop and veteran mix they both have veggie oil too - feeds twice a day.

Both are out all day and at night they have hay usually a haylage net full my hunter has a bit more they are both upto weight with good energy levels and topline :):)

15hh Quarter Horse - reiner on limited grazing - hay trickle-fed day and night plus 3/4 cup Saracen Stamm30 morning and evening, with GLC5500 joint supplement.

My 17yo TB and 28yo TB x are not in work at the moment due to pregnancy. They get 8 hours grazing a day on reasonable grass, ad lib Haylage and then varying quantities of Speedi Beet, Molli Chop and Barley Rings. They get NAF Haylage Balancer.

The Welsh Sec A has 8 hours grazing a day, 2.5kg good quality Hay, Dengie Hi Fi Lite and D&H EquiBites.

My 16.3 mediumweight hunter type mare in light/very occassional work gets nothing but grass in summer with a large haynet at night in the stable. She gets two handfuls of chaff with garlic for the flies. In winter she gets half a tub trug of Top Chop Lite with a round scoop of fibre nuts (morning and evening). She gets a haynet worth of hay in the field and two haynets at night in the stable. She is slightly porky though. :(

17.2 TB, having the winter off so no work! Mainly had the winter off to gain weight, and it's worked. The weight he has put on is amazing, so I've recently cut down his feed, and will start to take him off it once the grass starts to grow.

He's currently on 1 feed a day of:

1 round scoop of Alfa-A Oil
1 round scoop of TopSpec Conditioning Cubes
2 small scoops of Sugarbeet

He's also getting 3 large haynets a day (Shared with another horse in field shelter) and has really good quality grass (Even in the midst of winter! No mud!) :D

Yearling Warmblood colt - half Happy Hoof and half Stud Cube twice a day, garlic, oil and linseed. Ad lib hay at night - field in day time no hay.

Broadmare 16.2hh Warmblood out 24/7 - nothing. Shared haylage once a day.
Previous when in work - Pasture Mix, chaff - sugar beet in winter. Barley to gain weight.

15.2 tb 16 y.o. good doer in light work. Ad lib hay, 1 scoop Mollichaff Calmer, fast fibre, brewers yeast , micronised linseed and Globalvite.

14.2 tbxwelsh, 22 y.o. cushings & sweetitch, retired with bad back. 10lbs hay at night, half scoop Mollichaff Calmer, fast fibre, brewers yeat, micro linseed & cup of Lo-cal.

Both out during the day (6-7 hrs), pony on starvation paddock, both get extra hay during the day in winter if needed.

14.1hh good doer in light/medium work gets:

1 scoop of Apple Chaff
Recommended amount of Topspec Lite Balancer
Carrots

Once a day split into two feeds

He is currently turned out 9am-2pm week days and 9am-4pm weekends and gets 8kg of hay weekdays and 6kg weekends.

Horse (large Draught type) in light work, living out 24/7 apart from in the worst weather. Appears to be allergic to everything so atm, just scoop of HiFi Nuts, glug of Soya Oil and measure of PinkPowder x 2 and as much hay as he'll eat.

Not the best doer and looks a bit ribby but he'll improve.

15.2hh TB x Highland - super good doer, worked 5 days a week. Out during the day with some grass, but not loads. 16lb of hay overnight - soaked for 12 hours and rinsed. 1/2 Stubbs scoop of hi-fi lite, 1/2 mug lite balancer, joint supplement twice a day. I still struggle with her weight if her workload drops, she is 16 now and I have been waiting for her to stop holding weight so well in the winter - definitely not happening yet little piglet x

17 hands Belgium warmblood 6 year old jumping 1.15 is on power and performance 3 times a day , grass in the day and a big haynet at night :)

18yo Irish cob - Out 24/7, hay in field. Gets token feed of chaff after ridden work.

3yo Cob x - Out 24/7, hay in field. Occasional sympathy carrot for being dragged in!

Well after my mare fell ill last year and proved to be allergic to basically everything. I had to get advice on feeding her. She gets a handful of speedibeet, and around 300g of micronised barley twice a day. Evening feed also contains biotin. she is a good doer but needed a little extra as she been having a few illness issues of late and has come back into work.

19yo (aaah) 17 hand IDxTB (unshod, semi retired) is on two scoops of Dengie Healthy hooves a day with a couple of handfuls of Spillers H&P nuts in each and a measure of Pink powder in the evening half of that ration. Plus carrots and apples. He's out 8 hours a day on raggy grass. prone to colic so I avoid any changes where possible Plus 1 section lo-cal haylage and Hifilite when in overnight altho if he gets extra hungry he can steal a little old hay or oat straw through the bars :-))

8yo 14.2 Haflinger (lami prone) is out 8 hours a day on raggy grass but in a grazing muzzle as even in NE Scot the mild winter means Im not happy about the grass levels/sugars
Other than that she gets overnight 2 sections of 12 hour soaked old hay, 1 of oat straw and 1kg of HifiLite with her vit and min supp in it. She thinks she is very hard done by. No apples of carrots, her treat when called for is a handful of Healthy Hooves :-)

My 16.3 WB x TB rising 5 year old (just starting fittening work after 10 months off) is having 3.5 Kg Spillers horse & pony cubes a day (between two feeds) and 3 large sections of hay at night. During the day she's out for 5 hours on average winter grazing. She's looking well ATM and has a lovely shine on her clipped coat. Very pleased with how she's looking this winter and on such a simple feeding regime too :)

I have two ponies, both are out 24/7 on six acres of old pasture (just the two of them). There's not loads of grass, but plenty of ground to pick over. Neither are in work ATM. They are fed once a day and have between two and three slices of good meadow hay a day each.

One is a 14.3 connie cross. He gets a Subbs scoop of soaked sugar beet, one of crushed (hard rolled so quite light and fluffy) oats and a mug of Hilight high fibre cubes. He also get linseed, brewer's yeast and magox and is also having some pure MSM in the hope that it will help with his injury. He's looking just right weight wise ATM (he's usually too fat the rest of the year!)

The other is a 12h sec B. She gets a 2 mugs of soaked beet, a mug of oats, two hanfuls of hi fi and a handful of high fibre cubes. Weight wise, she looks almost a little too well ATM.

In the summer they are on less ground, the sec B is usually paddocked and is fed a slice or two of old meadow hay when the paddock is bare. She also has a couple of handfuls of hi fi and a handful of cubes with some brewer's yeast as this helps to reduce tail rubbing. Bigger pone get more or less the same, but no hay as he gets more grazing.

They also get a carrot and/or an apple each day and any available veg peelings/trimmings (carrot, cauli, swede, sprouts, cabbage, parsnip).

Neither of my ponies have ever had laminitis.

17hh IDxTB, good doer (though tends to lose weight quite drastically when it's cold, but puts it back on easily/quickly), 17yo and arthritic...

About 3/4 Stubbs scoop Speedibeet (soaked volume) daily, handful of Dengi High Fibre Nuts.
Supplements: JointFX, microionised linseed, brewer's yeast, magox. Sometimes seaweed but not always, and Yea-Sacc when wormed, fed haylage or grass comes through. Adlib good hay with the odd bit of haylage.

Currently also getting Equitop Myoplast on vet advice. Carrot stretches done daily so he gets half a carrot each day for that, or half an apple/similar!

Was working hard until Xmas (hunting once every 2 weeks plus hard work in between) but now lunging (Kavalkade) and long reining 3x per week, hacking 2x per week (working correctly not slopping along) up to 1.5hrs max, and maybe one schooling per week for around 40 mins. I've got 3 more hunting days left on my subs for this season so he'll do those but only 2-2.5hr days, not full days.

ISH poor doer on 1scoop Alfa A oil,1 scoop A and P calm and condition, 3/4 conditioning cubes, 1 cup of topspec balancer and apple cider vinegar. T/O during day and ad-lib hay in stable... seems to be doing the trick :o

Do you find the myoplast is working as my friend used it on her horse but didn't really notice a difference for how much it is? But it probably effects each horse differently :)

I try to keep things simple and fibre based as much as possible. WB colt, 8 months is on ad-lib hay and Suregrow; obviously he is not in work! Cushings oldie is on hay with a handful of HiFi light to disguise her Pergolide tablet, with a scoop of devils' claw for mild arthritis. In spring she'll have her grazing restricted and stay on the same hay based diet.

7yr old kwpn, medium work gets 1scoop of A&P Ride & Relax (split over two feeds) 1scoop of Dengie Hi Fi Molasses free in each feed, 2handfulls of horse &pony cubes in each feed, and a mug of A&P Fast fibre, 2large haylage nets at night and is out in the day
