SO.... what IS a 'time waster'?

[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]

Timewasters are people who have no intention of buying the horse you are selling. Or people who know they are unsuitable but come anyway.

Timewasters are people who delay you either buying or selling a horse, through either an inability to understand and/or meet your requirements or an inability to communicate in an effective and efficient manner

Why would you stear clear of an advert with "no timewasters"? Ive had numerous timewasters over the years see horses Ive had for sale so I have put it in the odd advert. People who Ive had who I would call timewasters:-

* A woman who came to see a warmblood I had for sale - I made it perfectly clear in the advert AND on the phone exactly what he was, ie. colour, height etc. and she saw photos before coming to try him. She rode him for a good hour and then at the end turned around and said "he's lovely, but I dont like the colour and he's too big for me"!!

* A man who came with his teenage daughter, she was tiny so I did say I thought she was rather over-horsed considering my one was 16.2hh - he rode him first and to my horror was a total novice (NOT what he said on the phone!!) but my horse behaved beautifully. Then daughter got on and found it fun he could do flying changes, she kept doing it, I told her to stop doing them as horse was getting fed up, too late he bucked and she fell off (he'd never bucked in the 4 years Id had him!). I was sure that the horse was NOT for them. But they shocked me when they said they loved him and would sort out a vetting later that week. I never heard from them again... Why lie?!!

* I always get ridiculous calls from totally unsuitable people. For example, I'll get young kids phoning up asking if Id loan the horse or someone will phone up about a horse advertised as "Not for novices" and basically they'll be beginners...

Ive bought and sold a few horses now so have been on both sides but I have to say that definately the worst timewasters are buyers!

Some people are victims of their advisers. One horse I bought went to trial with a woman before I saw him (he was exactly as described). She had him on trial for a week then phoned the breeder because at 16h she'd decided he was too big and then proceeded to show breeder a video of the horse her instructor had 'found' for her - which was 17h. About 6 months after I bought him she contacted the breeder saying the other horse hadn't (surprise surprise) worked out was he still for sale?!
There are plenty of 'trainers' out there doleing out crappy advice to numpties persuading them to buy totally unsuitable horses from them at massive profits. So it goes like this: pay me for the horse, when you can't ride the horse I told you to buy, pay me to ride it for you (and for it's keep too), when you eventually get sick of this arrangement, pay me 10% to sell the horse on for you (probably to another client). I see it all the time, makes me cross.

I am advertising my mare on full loan, someone came to view her likled her agreed to take her this weekend now I can't get in touch with her! It so fustrating as I have arranged transport and gave up my stable! Its a nightmare!
They are a typical;l time waster or like other people say when they agree to come and see a horse then just dont turn up, it takes 2 seconds to let some one know you are no longer intrested rather than mess people around!

When i was looking for my horse i said on the phone i didnt want anything with TB in it.. travelled 50 miles and to see the most beautiful TB.. so the seller wasted my time.

Am currently selling my trailer. had 2 viewings. First viewing - full inspection on trailer, then mentions she has no money yet. Second viewing - I leave work early so I can ride and do the viewing. Sit waiting, get a text sayin she is running late. Arrives half an hour late then says she hasn't passed her trailer test yet. By this time im too late to ride my horse...

Now I know why we seem to do partx and take a hit on the price..

I was apparently!

This was after travelling 200 miles twice to see the horse, and then bringing my own vet to do the vetting.

The horse was a completely different age than the pasport and lame on the vetting day so I turned him down.

After this I was referred to as a time waster on the dealers website.

I had a tyre-kicker come here a couple of weeks ago. I think they were hoping for a pony ride ... I disappointed them! I can't be doing with people wasting my time when I know fine well they have no intention of buying. Thankfully people like this are rare. I generally weed out the divvies well before I ever invite them to come and look at my horses.

However the same can be said of some sellers aswell. I have been enquiring about 2 horses this past week. I sent emails asking all questions I needed answers to because these horses are a couple of hours drive from me so I don't have the time to fuff around looking at horses who are not suitable. Crikey I only asked the basic stuff and yet, neither seller answered those questions ... "come and have a look" they say ... I've already told them I live miles away and don't want to waste their time or my own! Right now I am close to being on the verge of forgetting these horses and looking for something fresh because I simply cannot be bothered with people who cannot even answer the most basic of questions about their horse.
