I have posted this before - years ago about my mares breeding - everyone at the time (and the photo) thought IDxTB. Her gait is really unusual though (previous pic didn't show that) recently at camp one of the instructors was convinced that she is andalusian - I think she is a heinz 57 personally but what do you think. Ignore my fat arse!!!

ETS: I don't think she is andalusian BTW. She has no breeding. I think she is one farmers horse met another farmers horse and they loved each other very much....

No. This is the best I can do and its when she was 4 and she has chnaged so much since then. Its the gait more than anything I am wondering about. I don't know how to discribe it but she lifts her knees up really high and kinda pauses. She canter is really balanced and bouncy and when collected she feels like she is almost cantering on the spot!

this is pure curiousity btw - as I said, I think she is a heinz 57!!!!
 
Hope you find out moocow - she's so gorgeous she has to have some serious lineage in her somewhere. Her face is fabulous and she looks incredibly intelligent. Hope someone on here can throw some light on it x
 
Definately looks of Spanish origin to me. Im thinking along the lines of Lustiano, especially with the rounded gait, can see T.B as well, or maybe shes just an English Hackney X posing as an baroque horse

How about a Standardbred? How unusual are her gaits - if she paces, she could well be a Standardbred. Looks very like a friend's.

I know I'm just being a pain in the ar*e here but isn't the lusitano from portugal not spain?

Not sure on the breed OP but she is a lovely horse.
 
I think there could be some spanish in there, the shape of her head with the convex shape of her nose reminds me of an andalucian we have on our yard. whatever she is, she's lovely!
 
High Knee action doesn't have to be anything poncy or rare - most gypsy cob hairy black and white trotters have high knee actions, cause its what they breed them to do.

Welsh D also has very high knee action, so there could be some of that kicking around, which is probably more likely thank hackneys and standardbreds.

They do DNA tests for dogs to establish breeding. I assume it must be available for horses as well, but probably very expensive. I have a dog whose breeding is a mystery to everyone, but we just call her a Miniature Irish Wolfhound. (looks just like one but the size of a small springer spaniel!)Most people believe us that it's a real breed!

Make something up. How about an Iberian Sport Horse if you think she's got something Spanish in her or a Celtic Sport Horse if you're not sure if it's Irish or Welsh that's in her, or even a Cockney Sport horse if you suspect Hackney?

) thing. If she was that rare she wouldn't have been bought aas a yearling by previous owner at a market for virtually nothing!!!!

Anyway, it was just for curiousity at 1 am!!!! Thanks for all the complements about her - i will pass them on

She is a stunner! We have a standardbred on our yard and she's very similar to him, the shape of her head, her eye, he's been retired for years so I can't say anything about his gait but i imagine if he was fit enough to work he'd look identical
