right guys . . . . a few have already owned up to singing christmas carols to their horses and i sing 'bob the builder' or 'lord wont you buy me a mercedes benz'

what do you sing to your horses when they need calming down out on a ride?!

apart from christmas carols, which I great because I can actually remember them right through, I also sing 10 green bottles.......or 100 green bottles depending on how nervous I am!
 
Oh I do like to be beside the seaside and used to sing little donkey to my daughters pony.

i'm with gorgeous george. i used to do the shetland pony grand national and the shetland i rode was the biggest headcase. i got told to sing ten green bottles going down to the start line.
 
The one that tends to come to mind most often when I'm hacking is Iron Maiden - Run to the Hills.

Not best known for soothing or calming, really, but then neither is my singing, so I stick to ridiculous conversations with the poor horse instead!

Oh gosh, anything that I can remember from my mp4 player.

A lot of U2, some Snow Patrol as their songs are quite mellow. Coldplay as well for the same reasons as Snow Patrol.

It really depends on the situation & how I feel or what comes into my head.

We had a discussion about what songs "reflected" our horses .... I sing what ever song is stuck in my head but I have a walk man on my phone that I put on loudspeaker, I sing along to all sorts, he loves johnny cash, black eyed peas, r n b, hip hop, reggae!!!

Me and my horse went through a winter from hell a few years ago, with her crippled and on box rest with hand walking, and hours grazing in-hand in a freezing cold field in the wind and rain. It seemed almost definite that she would be PTS. And then she turned the corner and winter turned to summer, which was the summer she wasn't going to see.

When I walked her out to her field in the mornings, with the sun shining, I couldn't help myself, I would sing The Beatles "Here comes the sun". The words seemed to fit.

We arn't champions by a long shot but when we've been out hacking together all on our lonesome thats how it makes me feel, a year ago i wouldnt of had the nerve to hack alone!
 
I sing cha cha slide to my mad TB. He can do all the moves!! He can slide to the left, then slide to the right, but his best move of all is REVERSE REVERSE hehe love him xx
