So whats your horsey OCD?

keepers not used

numnahs not pulled up into gullets

sweeping the yard (although now only do my area, as just got so fed up of other peoples "ineffective" sweeping!)

feathers on non natives....

bandages have to be put on the right way....

(probably loads more. I blame the PC!)

I'm tack obsessive. I will not get on a horse i have not tacked up (or at least adjusted and checked before i get on) because i think so many people just miss little things that i find important. Everything has to be perfect before i get on. And i'm an obsessive tack cleaner.

It really annoys me when people have the numnah folded under, or the noseband too tight or slack or the bit too low or high. Just grr. Lol. Not much else, but i'm very horse safety obsessive. Not so much with my own safety, i guess i use it all up on making sure theres nothing a horse can damage itself on. Although they do always find something new!

Mine is rugs, Captain has at least 3/4 of each weight, both stable and turnout. I am obsessed with him not losing weight / condition.

Their buckets and all feed utensils must be kept immaculate.

Sweeping has to be my main thing, i am a mad sweeper. My area of the barn has to be perfect before i leave. My beds are all squared off and no bits of stray straw sticking out. Bankings all the same height. everything has to be in it's proper place and rugs all hung up on their hooks. Clean water and buckets cleaned daily, loads of people don't.
Horse must be groomed to perfection before i ride, certainly no bits of straw in her mane.
Barrow can't be left with anything in it over night. If they do a poo in their stables before i go at night, it must be lifted and put on dung heap. I always think it can't be nice to leave it in the barrow and them have the smell of poo all night!! how ridiculous is that lol

I used to be massively OCD about strapping for an hour every day and making sure every hair was in place...now that my big girl is broken I can imagine that will become an obsession again! Anyway, some of my 'current' obsessions!

I cant stand people who hog but dont do legs...or vice versa...I dont know why, I just like to see neds either sleek or hairy, not inbetween!!

Keepers used on bridles and dressage saddles - there is no need for the straps to be flapping!

Haynets high enough - one client hangs her nets so they are about 5inchs above the floor - "so that they dont go ewe necked" - and it winds me up something crazy!

Rug surcingles being too tight or too loose, or one being longer than the other. I always have to do them up in the same routine - Front to Back, then Back to Front

Leg straps not being done properly, again, my routine is right strap to right clip, then left strap through right and back to left clip

I dont like all the whiskers off... I love sleek cobs tho, so Im a bit odd there!!lol!

Bedding - my banks have to be the same size and height, the front square and swept - think that is almost a universal thing!

When soaking hay, the water MUST be changed every day, I soak my welshys for 12-24 hrs and she has a change of water inbetween!

Think thats it.... maybe!

I have to (at home and at an event) put on my horses boots and tack (ie. can't have anyone else do it). I think that's quite a sensible thing to do though! I always speak to my horse on the way to the cross country warm up as well, not sure what that's about - I just go over our tactics...!
