So when did you know you had found you 'one in a million' horse?

I knew when I went looking at other horses to loan and none of them compared to him. Only rode him for owner at time, when I was offered him I jumped at chance and now 4 years later he is still my horse of a lifetime. The more time goes on the stronger the bond gets :)
Still getting used to new girl but hoping she will turn out to be as good as him :)

Is it possible to have two but for different reasons? I've had Mills for 10 years, she's retired now. When I saw her - in a field with 20 others - she picked me. She laid her head on my shoulder and said take me. I did. Sadly, shes not been well in the time I had her. She had been quite badly abused and was being used in a riding school. This left her with spavins and soft tissue damage. I did learn to ride on her though but she never seemed happy. We spent/spend more time talking to one an other. She is my shoulder to cry on, tell good news to first and ask advice from  Mills will be 26 this year and I quite simply love her.

Now Lizzie was bought in May 2012 to replace my boy. I had him for 7 years but he had so much more to give and was capable of so much more than I could do with him. Heartbreaking sale. Lizzie is the complete opposite. A highland who's so laid back and favourite thing is to be asleep.

When I saw her for the first time, she just whinnied at me and I knew I had my second horse of a life time. She's obstinate, shoves her bum in your face but has a gentle eye that could melt the hardest heart.

I broke my ankle after a month of owning Lizzie and didn't see her for some time. I thought she would have forgotten me but when I saw her again she winnied at me and I knew that our story was really just starting...Both Mills and Lizzie fill my heart. :)

Saw advert of a horse. Was younger and little smaller than I was looking for. Fell in love with his for sale video. Drove 3 hours to view him, didn't look at any others even tho it was my first horse. For him home and he totally restored my confidence particularly on the ground!

My current boy LUDO is mine, I was at a dealers yard viewing a mare, I was wasting some time going up the row of stables patting the horses, when I stumbled across him, his temperament is to die for, such a softy

I was like awwww who owns this horse I love him, he said oh he is not a liveries he is for sale but you won't be interested in him as he too young (4)

Id planned on getting around 7/8 year old.

I was like Nooo I want to see him, my two friends were like wise up he too young, I ignored them, and insisted on seeing him, guy lunged him and it really was love at first sight.

We have had LOTS of ups and downs but are getting there slowly but never would I let him go , to me he is the perfect horse, others don't agree but he is my dream horse.

I bought him there and then after sitting on him for about 5 mins tops.!! Seen a video of him loose school over 1.80 with ease and that was me caught - hook line and sinker..!!

This is him

My current horse - he's my first and as I'm 46, probably my only!

I bought him because my heart skipped a beat when I met him; he looked like a slightly bigger version of Black Beauty (see age above!!) and despite how badly I rode him, he didn't let it bother him. Within the hour, I was hook, line and sinker!

I've had him now for 5 months and whilst its not been easy (fell, my fault not his, hospital, back brace, fine now but can't ride for another month), he's not going anywhere. This will be his forever home. He's a gentle giant, comes when I call, loves the attention and does what I ask in and around the yard.

Sorry, I could go on and on I'm that nutty for him. Poor hubby hasn't had a look in!!

Does that count as one in a million - in my book, yes sir-eee!

It's happened twice ! Is that allowed !:D Trawled the internet for a month looking for my first horse (wanted one for over 30 years !). First thing we go to see & the owner is walking by & shouts "Hi Jess". She whinnied back. That prettymuch sealed the deal before I rode her ! 2nd time I was on Facebook & saw some baby pics of cobs. I passed comment on one then found out she was for sale. I pestered the life out of my partner who gave in quite easily & I suddenly had to find the money to buy her as I wasn't actually looking for anything ! They were both love at first sight & till death do us part. And I'm still head over heels despite 9 months of mud !

I've had 2. First was H who I loaned for 3 years. When I tried him, he wiuld barely walk and trot, dragged me to hus field but I knew I had to have him.
He was truely awful to handle on the ground, but once I was on him he was a perfect gentleman.
He gave me my confidence back jumping and despite going round at a trot our proudest moment was coming 5th in a 2ft9 speed class. We were the slowest clear but we went clear! Also we tried novice dressage too.
My 2nd is Chester who I now own. Hes the 1st horse I've brought, after loaning him for nearly 2 years. With him it was progressive as he has a lot of character and being a tb totally different to anything I've ever loaned before. I realised probably about a year ago when I took him on our 1st hack in company and despite going through open fields he was so good.
Then again when I jumped him for the first time 5 months ago, he looked after me so well even though I was a nervous wreck.
I can't imagine life without him even though we've got a million miles to go.
