So when does everyone start to clip their horses?

I clip as soon as she comes in the winter. Don't like worrying about her half shaved in the field at night when it raining

I'm such the worrying mother! If she needed clipping earlier for work I probably would but we are only hacking at the moment so avoid overly sweaty horse syndome most of the time!

Wait until they sweat more than just under the girth on a normal session. As they are all as fit as needed already, although they are hairy it will probably be about november time. That is when we usually do it, althogh I a trying to see if I can get away with not clipping

Daisy is a real yeti and got really sweaty today doing what I would consider to be a fairly sedate hack so as soon as I can get my hands on some clippers

Not til last weekend in November because they have November off in the field doing nothing, and I like them to be without rugs if possible. New one isn't growing much coat though so we'll have to see if she copes..........

Will prob do it on the 4th/5th of October because I'm planning on hunting him on the 12th and he would be much to hairy otherwise. If I need to though I'll clip him earlier.

tomorrow - rode in walk for 20 mins, then lunged 20 mins in trot and freeschooled in cnter nd he was sweating all up his neck and chest - is VERY hairy, only front half coming off and then light weight on at night as lives out

Mine are hairy too. Rode today in 20 degrees & A was really sweaty. Normally dont clip til October but I think it's going to be in the next week or so... I hate clipping!!

5 of ours have been clipped all year, i just find it so much easier, and cant stand all the hairyness if not!

1 will be done shortly, and the other is only in light work so probably wont be done until christmas time when his work load will increase.

With Star I never stop, with Be I've never done it. Be does far more work and they wear the same rugs for the same weather. It depends on the individual.
