Lol at my arrogance then, but if you'd asked me this over 7 years ago when I was actually eventing my bestest ever horse (only to novice and and intermediate) I would have said 'of course, we're going to win them all eventually!' but then having produced a horse I bought for £360 as 'unrideable' to event at that level, I thought I was 'IT' and going to make it allllllll the way!!!
Now, however, I don't bounce so well! Having endured said special horse's 'difficult' moments, combined with my own bad driving/car crash (and probably bad riding!! ) I would be more than grateful to any horse that could take me round a pre-novice!! (oh, sorry, BE100?!)
So, really, as much as I might dream and wonder if i'm right in thinking where 'they' went wrong if they stop/fall etc (y'know, because it's so easy when you're watching the tv!!)....I just don't have it
Oh well, will keep on dreaming, that way you don't fall
I think that if I had the money, and the option to do my time with Beau over again I would certainly have given it a good crack with him. He gives me a great feeling XC and I trust him enough to contemplate giving the DR & XC a go, forget the SJing!
I would jump the Leaf Pit tomorrow on him as he loves drop fences and is bloody good at them! And some of the others I would love to have a crack at, but I would have to skip the large white parrallel, and the white train crossing (too much like SJ's).
As a rider I would need soo much training and schooling to be able to ride competently at that level - just to develop a feel for the correct pace etc. I'd also need alot of dutch courage and some vallium before I started...
But with the right horse I'd love to give Burghley or Badminton a crack one day, but unfortunatley as I'm not on my way now I don't think it will ever happen nor will I ever own a horse of Beau's callibare (when he is sound) again.
Mini TX dreams of it, whether she will actually achieve it remains to be seen.
I would happily ride around the course, but actually ride around the jumps themselves and make comments about how big they are and feel relieved I didnt have to jumpt hem. Would probably be a nice hack.
