Would say is definetly me, as if pickle really wanted to he could easily do what he wanted (being 17.1hh!) but he chooses not to, which i think shows respect
Well, have to say, Fly is NOT totally respectively to me. I try not to question the grey area's, not yet anyway. First time I have come across a horse with "opinions" in 30 years so a bit taken back by it really. Think I am "winning" so far but I really have to think about it before I get on!
I would like to be able to say me but in all honesty Bert and I are having alittle power struggle at the moment. It is safe to say that he is a little taken aback with my new assertive, i'm incharge back off attitude!
When I first got him he was a puddi catso I think I was unaware that we were more equal than I was dominant and that he complied with me because he probably felt like doing what I was asking him to anyway. Now I am asking more of him we are doing battle. I will win though
I have had my horse since he was 4 - he is now 11. I have had big issues with him acting more like a stallion. He can be difficult on the ground. Over time he has come to trust me and like me I think. He now respects me and I would say I am the leader, he looks to me for guidance.
With Cat, I'd say that I was boss, altho I would also take his input on board, if that makes sense. However, if push came to shove, I'd have the last word.
I think what he have now is more a 'mutual respect'! He's actually got lovely manners but seems to know that by being endearing and sweet can get exactly what he wants...
I think Maiden lets me think I am boss. She's such a lovely girl and has always been polite and mannerly towards everyone, but she knows that if her toe so much as crosses the line by a millimetre she gets an aggressive earful from me (I square up to her and yell, she is then more careful what she does). I don't think setting firm ground rules has done our relationship any harm at all, I think she likes knowing where her boundaries are and consequently is happier being around me as she knows how to behave.
99.9% of the time though she is an angel and doesn't need "boss"!
