So who's doing no stirrups november?

I always worry about my horses back?!

Unless you're bouncing around, and assuming you spend an appropriate amount of time rising or in two point, regardless of whether you have stirrups or not, I don't see why it should be a problem for the horse's back. I wouldn't do it on anything I'm not prepared to sit the trot at least some of the time with stirrups, though.

Quite, me and Frank made an agreement about sitting trot a few years ago... he isn't built for it :eek3:, I can do it on anything else.... I was a bit worried Id lost all ability at one point!

For any bareback occasions we have an ace walk to canter :p

After a year of not riding, pregnancy and the aftermath destroy my core, I think I'll keep my stirrups for my first month riding my huge moving Friesian :p maybe next year...

The horse in the video though, he looked lovely to sit to! Such lovely rythm and quietness.

Exactly. I rarely sit on Dae because he's never felt strong enough in his back. I'll happily sit all day on Fergus because he's so balanced, strong and up (although I do, of course, get off him as much as I can). And, despite not considering it ideal, I was sitting on a newly broken four year old the other day because I physically couldn't rise in her stock saddle - and she was surprisingly balanced. And a good walk to canter is hugely useful for bareback :p
