Im stuck! Im guessing its going to be quite cold?!! So my usual dresses are not really going to suit this early meet.

We are going on the wednesday and have tickets for the marquee.. so am guessing you have to be quite smart??

Ive never been so any pointers would be FAB!

Thanks! xxxx

possibly going friday with a work thing.

will be wearing a dress but with tights, a nice shawl and also a smart coat over the top!

I'm not going, but based on my New Year's Day experience last year, I would go with as many clothes as you can get on at once

I'm going on the Tuesday and Wednesday and am having the same problem. Haven't a clue what to wear apart from lots of layers! Haven't been before so don't really know what the norm is.

I'm going on ladies day!
Going to wear black trouses and a long sleeve tunic nicely topped off with a woolly hat, gloves and long black coat. I expect the woolly hat will have hay on it, everything I own has hay on it at the moment.

We should have a forum poll

Who has clothes without hay in them?

Anyone have a hayfree washing machine?

I'm doing all four days and have got the all the outfits planned and ready!....because...i'll be so hungover every morning I could end up looking like I spent the night sleeping in the muck heap so the only way is to plan and have outfits hung up and ready to throw on in the morning! and my white Jack Russell has just started moulting so all black clothes are kept well away from him....ha ha ha!

I'm fully tweed and wool skirted up: I wear short tweed or wool skirts with a funky smart jumper that is warm and a nice tailored jacket. I've got some of those Spanish Riding boots so if its really cold I can wear shooting socks and wooly tights and be very toasty.

We went in a marquee last year for a few hours and it was really hot...and then freezing outside! If you going to be stuck in the marque all day a nice trouser suit would be good....but wear boots if you plan to spectate outside or go to the paddock (more so because everyone is going to tread on your feet because there are so many people there!). I wouldn't wear a dress unless it was a nice wool/knitted one with longs sleeves.

Enjoy!

I'm going to be there working so will be wrapped up as much as necessary! Usually wear tidy jeans with decent knee high boots then weather depending tweed or ariat warm coat.
When I was there at end of Jan it was really warm until about 3 when the sun went behind the stand and the temperature plummeted!

Not going this year - have been in the past but with the hoi poloi not in a marquee. I think with NH racing DONT have bare legs or arms and don't wear those fascinator things!!! What about trousers or boots with a skirt and one of those gorgeous long tweedie style coats ie http://www.farlows.co.uk/collection.php/category/womens/cPath/3?gclid=CM6owYqEn6ACFYoU4wodgCD0aA.
I presume you'll be leaving the marquee and it does get pretty chilly at Cheltenham

I think i can guess the outcome of that though! (although some people have a seperate washing machine for the horsey things!) I just have to sneek everything in while the OH is at work and he STILL seems to know when ive done it.... and i use those bag things to bung everything into!!!! x

You have to go outside... and because you will be woefully underdressed maybe you'll be able to persuade OH to part with some of his winnings to purchase an fine example of a tweed jacket to keep you warm from one of the MANY vendors that will be there?

I'm going, not sure what day yet but will get there!

Clothes depend on if I manage to get some freebie corporate tickets or if I'm outside in the cold
grin.gif

Probably my tweed shooting jacket with either tweed skirt and long boots or moleskin type trousers if it's really cold.

It's a great atmosphere, you will have a fab time and drink lots of Guinness

Can't wait
