So ... winter wardrobe ??

Probably the last thing you want to think about when the sun is shining - but what horsey clothes would you like/recommend for winter ? I would like a new jacket for riding and general yard work this winter.
Must haves : fairly bright colour, easy to wash, dries quickly, must be waterproof
Pet hates : anything waxed (high maintenance and the hay seeds stick to it when wet !), anything down-filled (bad experience of one going lumpy in the wash !)
Recommendations ?
 
Good old flourescent yellow builders jacket? Marvellous things, warm, wash really well, can be seen for miles and waterproof!
 
Any Musto Jacket....I have a Musto Snug,best thing I have ever brought....washes time, after time....warm and waterproof(even in a down pour!)OK not cheap to buy,but,TBH well worth the money!

My best bargin Jacket is the Dublin Empress, its really snug, has always kept me dry even in terrential rain.
It comes in navy or a reddy/maroony colour, not that bright but you can put a tabard over the top for riding.

Is easy to wash and drys quickly, although it does drip on the floor when you first put it out

And think mine was £27, usually £35 but thats still a good price

I bought a mountain horse one which was gorgeous, but then realised it was only shower proof so has to take it back, especially as it wasnt cheap.

The thing im after are some long water proof chaps, as the waterproofs I have at the moment arent waterproof lol and then you slide all over the saddle as they go over your bum, but theres no point getting any as il be in Australia for the winter!
 
I am a big musto fan, quite tempted by either the combination jacket in brown/pink, or the paddock jacket in cornflower blue ...
Im sure I have seen the builders jackets in orange as well as yellow - perhaps I need both ! Builders jacket for yard work then quick change into smart musto jacket for riding out

i have the luminous jacket too, would not be without it. Also fab for riding in the winter, you can be seen from miles away
 
I switched from Musto last year and invested in a Mountain Horse grace jacket and ive got to say ive found it much better than the musto.

Footwear wise i have the ariat glaciar tall boot which is the ONLY boot ive had thats stopped me getting chilbaines all over my feet!

Coupled with the mountain horse over rider trousers on really cold days and again, it keeps my legs free of chilbains!

Any blouson jacket, I have a loveson but its looking a bit worn so im after another. They are warm but not bulky which is great when fiddling with the horses.
Get some Rambo waterproof chaps with the fleece inside. They are so warm and great for riding in. A good hat to stop all the heat escaping out of your head and some surgical gloves to go underneath normal gloves will keep your hands warm.

thats what I use in the winter too, they are great, never leak and you can been seen for miles
