my filly is 20 mths old, very chunky huge dinner plate feet, large head full size in headcollar, but shes only 14.2,her father is shirextb, 16.2, and her mum was a heavy cobxapp, 15.1,, i was hoping for min 16 h,cause he always throws big,and her mum is a pro, my vet says pro 15.2, do i quit now and sell her or do i hang in ther till next year to see, im thinking shes going to get wider not higher, anyone put my mind at rest,x sorry soooo longggg

Measure her legs between the elbow & the ergot, then add the measurement on to her elbow to get roughly where her withers will end up when she is fully grown. It is surprisingly accurate. My 2 1/2 year old was standing at 14.2 when she was about 20 months. She is out of a 15 hand cb x tb mare by Pro-Set who I think stands at 16.2. She is now pushing 16 hands with a lot more growing to do. Remember they tend to grow in fits & starts - sometimes they won't seem to grow for a few weeks, then they seem to grow like a weed for a couple of months. This time of year their energy tends to go on staying warm, I would wait & see what happens when the spring grass comes through before giving up. Also, remember that the bigger breeds eg shire etc often don't fully mature until they are 6 or 7.

thanks for that, i mean really id like her to big rather than to short as im tall and av long legs so min 16h, but id rather her bigger, i no u say 15.2 is close but its the wrong side of the minimum, friends say she prop will gwt much taller as she will grow into her head and feet, i havent herd that term b4.
