went to see the lady about a horse (as mentioned in previous post), it went well. The family seem lovely, so do the horses. I am going up to ride tomorrow, so fingers crossed we get on. It's looking along the lines financially as £20pw (about half the costs they reckon), help with the chores (mucking out etc) and use of horse whenever. She is a 20yo school mistress 'with atitude', I will probably be mainly hacking on the forest.
So the options are: 1) take on this horse. It's a regular financial comittment, with some chores and unlimited access. It's happy hacking, although this is probably something that suits me for now. Family are lovely, small private yard. Riding paddock for summer. 2) Stay at the riding school. £15 for 1 ride, £25 for 2 (a week). Few chores or committment. No ties. However, no guarentee of a particular horse. Hacking and school available, possibly more opportunities in the future eg lessons, competitions. Lots of people around, however yard is getting busier as summer approaches. 3) Buy a horse. Although this is the eventual goal, not something I want to rush into!
