I soak my hay and have been using a large bucket. However ive decided to buy a wheely bin instead. Should i still empty the water and refill with fresh water everyday.

yup - water smells revolting and can cause problems if you dont change it daily! I used to drag mine out and leave it on a milk crate to drain if thats any help?

Yes, the water is like sewage so get rid daily

I think so! I was under the impression that the water from soaked hay is classed as effluent (like sewage) because the bacteria from the hay goes rank. I also thought you were not allowed to pour the water from soaked hay (long soaking) down surface drains, (ie chucking it out on the yard floor or field) it had to go into the mains sewage due to the effluent issue.

Yes, I thought you were not allowed to pour down drains too.

Also, when I used to soak my hay and I drilled a small hole in the bottom of my bin and put a cork in it and then when you want to drain the hay of water I just pulled the cork out and allow all the water to run out (saves trying to drag out the heavy wet hay and then have to turn the bin over and let water out!)

Ive got a big plastic barrell cut in half - makes an ideal hay soaker, i soak two haynets each day and then tip it out and put fresh in the next day. I pull them out and stand them on a pallet to drain before hanging.
