Soaked hay when staying away

So Amber is now on soaked hay which is fine whilst we're at home. She's on it as she developed a bit of a cough about 6 weeks after coming in overnight; soaking hay and respiratory supplement has stopped the cough.
But our shows tend to be at least 1 night away and sometimes more and I know that keeping forage the same is better in terms of colic risk etc.
So any tips on soaking hay when staying away for up to a week? What about a net for travelling? Would taking an old feed sack and chucking boiling water on to steam it be good enough do you think?
For the months we'll be out an about she'll be living out full time when at home so not really on any hay at home.

I just wondered if anyone on here has experience of similar and good solution.

I take a couple of big trugs and soak hay near the taps at the place we are staying - generally one of a number of people soaking hay. I take made up haynets if I have enough haynets and if not have some large gardening bags I put more hay in, and then soak at the show. It does help if the show has nice hardstanding around its water taps.

would normally just soak it in big trugs outside stable.

if its purely for dust not sugars, steaming or damping with a watering can suffices short term for mine

Can she have haylage ?
Might be worth buying one ofthe 20kg bags so no soaking required quick and easy and no stress (hopefully lol) x

Me too, when I was soaking hay I packed bagged haylage for holidays. Fortunately my horse seems pretty happy just to switch between hay and haylage, but we usually go places where there's some grazing available which I imagine helps.

I had a weekend away at a BHS Camp and asked if I could soak hay if I supplied my own tubtrug and disposed of the water responsibly as my horse was EMS laminitic so didn't want to risk their hay/haylage. They were absolutely fine with it, I used the space by my trailer for soaking in the bucket and hung it from there to drip. If it's purely for a cough, could you use small bagged haylage in the meantime if soaking wasn't an option?

Big trugs to soak in. Or a feed barrel if she’s really hungry…! If it’s just for breathing not sugars I’d take haylage.

Ijust swap to high fibre bagged haylage. It's often lower in sugar anyway. I also do this in freezing weather when it isn't possible to soak. My boy seems to cope with this quite happily.

Yeah there’s generally not hard standing near the taps and drainage isn’t great plus space is a premium. It is purely for dust hence considering a steaming setup. I’m sure she’d love haylege, the dust free bagged hay seems hard to get locally. Thanks for all the suggestions.
