soaking hay in -7 temp

I steam mine, using a wall paper steamer I bought of ebay, works brilliantly, and no more freezing wet haynets

A good way to steam hay is to pop it into a plastic dustbin, pour on boiling water and put the lid on. Leave it to steam and voila!

I have a large water butt type thing, which I have put some wire mesh in the bottom off to keep the hay of the bottom, the wall paper steamer pipe then goes into the butt and wedges in the mesh, hay goes on top (usually 3 slices at a time) then I put a cut open Alfa sack on top of the hay sealing the steam in, leave for about 10 minutes per load
