been given some 45 gallon drums that formally held laundry soap need to wash them out but not sure if the wash out will be harmful to the grass or ultimately the ponies. I hope once clean to use to collect rainwater for the school(grass) as it gets a bit hard in dry weather, soil is sandy so has a bit of give but its hard after this long dry spell. am watering it before use but not keen on using too much tap water so thought this might be a solution when we get some rain that is. I cannot ask the original owner as these are 4th hand

If they are 4th hand presumably anything could have been put in them. I would try to wash them away from grazing and any natural water course.

No still soap they have been collected for recycling. You can see and smell the soap
