How do you resolve a really soar eye and also cracked heels...
My old pony seems to have rubbed her eye roar and it was completely closed when I saw her today...I think the wind has caused issues so I added a fly mask after giving it a wipe with eye wipes....it was a little better this evening and someone mentioned using old teabags as soothers...

My lad had an abcess couple of weeks ago and from where he had bandages his heels have got really soar and are now all cracking and are bleeding a little...I was thinking vasaline might work or germaline..?
Any suggestions would be great....

If your ned has rubbed her eye raw it's because it hurts. Eyes are fragile and very, very precious. If it's completely closed, it needs the vet out fast. She could have a foreign body stuck in it, or conjunctivitis, or a bite or scratch or uveitis or a thousand other things. Wrong time of year for fly strike really so putting a face mask on probably won't help and could make it worse by being a further irritant. Tea bags and such like are fine for people with tired, hung over or "office" eyes but a horse with an obviously painful eye should see the vet first.

Re the heels, it might be that the bandages were on too tight. This can cause damage to the skin. I'd clean the area carefully with Hibiscrub (it's probably infected) and then apply a proprietary wound gel such as sudocreme to both cover the area and protect it from mud and wet.

udder cream is the best i found for sore heels zinc and caster oil is good to. nappy rash cream and sudacream i've found work. My pony had a sore eye a little while ago i got something off the vet called pep. I think she only banged her eye though would of heeled in a day or two anyway.
