At the end of July 9 months work came to fruition. A show dedicated to retired racehorses with no pressure to keep up with the Jones's in showing! Thankfully the weather held whilst all other shows around Scotland got drowned and everyone had a good day!

This is the first time I have ever had anything printed in a paper and hopefully it won't be the last!

I am pleased you had a good day and that all your hard work paid off, running a show is a huge commitment all credit to you, I hope the competitors showed their appreciation and the next one will be even better supported.

It was basically a funny name for a class for unschooled horses. They had to be safe but they didn't need to go like a show horse as not all racehorses will ever agree to bringing their heads out of the clouds or go in a straight line! Ironically the horse that won had been a bit of a twat all day but was perfect in that class!

TFF - I have to admit I was expecting about 20 horses not nearly 40! It was some sight! It also showed that even though they were all the same breed there were so so many different types! Tiny little show hacks to big lightweight hunters and everything inbetween!

That's what you get from having sprinters and stayers, hurdlers and chasers and everything in between! ☺😄 I used to take on the ex flat runners, some made excellent polo ponies, some plain hacks, others dressage and we had some successes with riding horses at county, way before the RoR came in :)

There are plenty of exracers that do well at HOYS in the Riding Horse and Hack classes. And yet some people still complain that racehorses are being judged as though they were show horses when they should be judged as racers. Um no! Retrained means just that - retrained to the task you are asking the horse to do not making excuses for it expecting to be rewarded anyway!
 
Just been nosy and looked at your schedule - some really neat ideas for classes there! Love the ridden reprobates class and the grey horse championship as well, and trainers hack sounds like good fun.

And holy crap straps being allowed is exactly the sort of detail I look for in show schedules!

Glad it all went well.
