Hi everyone,
I keep hearing conflicting advice and wondered if anyone had any opinions on this?

I have a 6w old GSD pup, taken from mum far too soon and from a bad start. He was also half hand reared from 5w which I understand is even worse.

I take my dogs most places with me, work included. I am conscious that having a large breed dog known for being 'intimidating' to others that I want to make sure he is very well socialised. I already have one GSD with nervous aggression due to being not socialised properly (not by me by the previous owner) and I don't want two!

He can't be vaccinated for another week at least as he was malnourished and had antibiotics for a wound he came with that wouldn't heal and vet wants to wait a while longer.

I have been doing a lot of socialisation at home but I was wondering how many of you have carried out unvaccinated pups/taken them to shops etc in your arms. Dog trainer said this is okay as long as no contact with dogs/surfaces but other people say this is taking an unnecessary risk. Obviously I don't want parvo!

Does anyone have any tips for home socialisation/things to do before pup can actually go out? I was planning to go to pet shops/cafe etc on behaviourists advice carrying pup only but am not sure if this is a bad idea.

Thanks!

Yes, I have a 10.5 week pup, I got her just before she was 8 weeks old. She's just had her 2nd DHP 2 days ago, but she has been to work every day with me, she has been to agility training and flyball training with me carrying her and she went to a flyball competition last week where I carried her, and I have carried her walking up the road.
