I trust all of your reviews that I have read on here as HHO is FAR more reasonable than a small sample of the population ?

we are desperate for a soda stream type thing. Purely for fizzy water not pop so don’t need syrups etc. we drink tons of fizzy water which is also tons of plastic waste…

the gas is recyclable/returnable which hopefully offsets some of our plastic trash etc so if anyone has one, please share your opinion.

aarke carbonator 3 looks good and under £200 - apparently didn’t come with gas canister and iirc widely available ones don’t fit.

Also have a soda stream. Think it cost about £50 initially. As above, canisters from sainsburys. We buy syrups but you can just use it without them!

I’ve got a sodastream. Use sparkle plan for new canisters. Our plastic consumption is significantly less now. Best Buy for us.

Another soda stream owner. Canister lasts about 50 litres and I exchange at Sainsbury’s. I’ve got the manual version in white which was about £80 with extra bottles and some syrups which were a bit meh. I used it a lot in summer as I much prefer it to still but still use it daily

I have had so many soda streams. I buy one use it for a while probably actually until the gas runs out and then its running round to find a gas cylinder as after a year or so near me they go out of fashion so you can't find the cylinders or they are not in stock. Soda stream then goes to charity shop.

Few years later new super Soda stream introduced I buy another one the same cycle happens again.

I blame this on the fact I really wanted one as a child and my Mum got one in the charity shop for 50P (it was early 80's) and the gas was faulty so it never made proper fizzy drinks.

They have snazzy electric ones now don't they? Do not need Sodastream step back from the shelf.

Everyone has only mentioned soda stream and no other makes.
so I’m guessing the gas is most readily/easily available? And recyclable?

I’ve read some reviews that they can leak water when you are gassing?

I have an Aarke, it's great! I got the copper colour and it looks stylish and not too bulky on the side in the kitchen. It uses the standard soda stream cannisters, which if you take them to recycle/refill at Lakeland are then half price ?

I live in the back of beyond so I buy canisters from the Soda Stream website. They are efficient at sending them out & they come with a return label so you can send the empty ones back in the same box. No leakage from mine.
There are 2 types of canister. Both readily available. Exchange and refill C02 gas cylinders + Quick Connect Cylinders – SodaStream UK

We've got a sodastream which is great, except we ran out of gas and have no idea where to get a new cannister... (we dont have a Sainsburys round here where other people have mentioned)
If there's an Argos near you they do it. Or by "in post" if there's a locker near you. I have nowhere so use Royal Mail direct from Soda Stream UK -( follow the link on post 15). :)
