My warmblood weanling is up for sale, and I swear to god I've had about half a dozen timewasters now in the space of a month.

The latest 'quality buyer' has been emailed photos etc as they live about 300 miles away from us. Today, I get the cheekiest bloody email, saying what is lowest price I will accept - taking into account they would have to move the horse!! Did it not occur to them in the first place that they would have to take it home??

I am soooo fed up that I've decided to take her off the market til the spring and think about selling her again then.

I appreciate that it's a buyers market but surely they have to realise that they're being a pain in the backside!

Sorry, rant over

Oh I dont envy you! When I was trying to sell Viento I was inundated with time wasters. 3 people, in the space of 2 weeks arranged to come and view him and just never turned up or replied to my calls. Makes you so mad as if you have all the time in the world to sit around waiting for people who may, or may not, bother to turn up.

It may be a buyers market but it sounds as if some people are taking the p*ss. They know it will cost money to transport a horse but that is their responsibility as a buyer. A well bred youngster is a good buy and you are not a charity. I would do as you are doing i.e. try again in the Spring.

whats the weenlings breeding?

when i was selling my old horse, qualified for hickstead dressage championships, the only people who really wanted him were spoilt brat teenagers

I know the feeling!

I've had mine up for sale twice and taken him off the market both times due to time wasters! one girl came to see him...

1st time with just her mum

2nd time with her mum and an instructor

then she wanted photos and dvd of him competing so she could get another instructors opinion.

She decided she wanted him and organised the vetting. On the day of the vetting no vet or girl turned up all day...i rang her and turns out she didn't actaully want him anymore and had cancelled the vet but didn't think to ring me!!!!

thats just rudeness really isnt it!

i had that when i advertised my then 2yro.
the advert stated no offers... 1st person to see paid a 10% deposit and then never picked her up!

2nd person to see her offered £500 under the asking price and when i refused her reply was...
"but i'll have to pay to get her broken in."

well didn't you realise that when you first read the advert and saw she was unbroken????

i ended up keeping the filly and she is now rising 4 and one of the loveliest horses i have ever had so ended happily after all.

I had one woman that spent an hour and half trying a chestnut 5 yr old, all goin well and as she's finishing patting him and fussing him she decided he was the wrong colour chestnut, and no he didn't change colour at any point!!!

I've got my girl up for sale atm and have had a few interested in her asking for photos & descriptions etc... so i've e-mailed them all back and only 1 has replied. I understand if they've changed their minds or she isn't what they're after but would appreciate a quick message back saying so.

well, i can fully understand where you are coming from. i had my lovely pony up for sale cheaply as needed to sell her asap.
had one lady who wanted her on trial for a weekend to see if she would get on with the other ponies in the herd!!!!!

i sold her on new years eve to a really lovely lady who bought her straight away. she has found a truly lovely home, and she will stay in contact with me. she has already sent me 2 emails to let me know how she's doing. there are good buyers out there!! i am just glad my pony found one.

Argh tell me about it,'forward going SHOWJUMPING pony Will NOT EVER be a dressage pony'
they turn up jumps him then decided they wanted something to do affiliated dressage! i ws like are you having a laugh :@

I had a lot of emails like that, offering me a really low price before they have even seen the foal. I think they are just hoping I will sell my stock cheap given the recession.

Luckily I just sold a colt to the most wonderful home so worth waiting for the right person to come along.

i really want to buy a little colt or filly within the next few months to bring on and train myself. I am put off buy some sellers as they do over price when they think they have the next superstar!

i do not mind paying an appropriate price, mainly for the bloodlines and what i see the foal has in the way of potential, but i would never see one over priced then offer way under teh mark, ill just walk from the sale.

i'm selling too and finding it frustrating that people keep ringing, talking to me for an hour and then mentioning that 'he's a little out of my price range'- i.e. 3-4k out of their price range!
i do realise its a buyers market and i do realise that if you don't ask you don't get but this is just wasting my time- they'd be better of saying straight out that they don't have the money for what its up for....am i flexible or not- if not then don't have to have a long conversation for either of us. i think the credit crunch is making people a bit more cheeky than normal to be honest!!
